1. Bottling tap water and putting it in the fridge removes the chlorine and fluorine.

2. Rain water caught in a clean-catch container is cleaner than tap coming from who knows where that has to go through old pipes, and picks up debris, drugs, hormones, and also contains chlorine (meaning it also has dead bacteria which has not been removed or filtered out) and fluorine (which I don't want in my water because I brush my teeth).

3. To clean water that I get from the rain, I can boil it and if I feel more cleaning is necessary, also filter it.

Which is more cost efficient or in other words cheaper in the long?

In the long run, will a name brand last just as long as a whole army of cheaper ones (meaning it's the same cost either way you go) or will it outlive the whole pack of cheaper ones put together? Especially considering if one expensive one goes bad, it would have to be reserviced possibly at cost, or a cheaper one can be easily replaced by another cheaper one with no hassles of reservicing.

I want something safe, and I have read somewhere that those rope devices might not be so safe for birds, as they can swallow strings and it can cause them harm. I would like something that will help take care of their chewing needs and beak exercise while keeping their beaks from overgrowing.
