9 AnswersHorses1 decade agoHas anyone ever done research on how adoption affects birth order?
in the adoptive family or in the first family?
My sister and I were both genetically firstborn children, but she was shoved into a younger sibling slot because of my adoption before her birth.
Likewise, my oldest half sibling is genetically a second born child, shoved into a firstborn slot, because of my adoption...
Just wondering if anyone knows of any birth order research out there that takes this into consideration.....

14 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoLong distance support for family of critically ill child?
Found out today that a friends daughter, age 4 has a malignant brain tumor. Surgery went well, they are not certain that they got everything.
They're several states away, and I'm looking for ways to support mom and dad through the crisis. Chemo starts in two weeks, and dad lives in another town some distance from the hospital. He and mom are divorced, so there is that to contend with as well.
Little girl's name is Avery.
Prayers are welcome.

4 AnswersGrade-Schooler1 decade agoAny advice for a doula with a young client planning to place?
A colleague on one of my doula lists is working with a young girl who is making the decision to place her child. She's looking for advice and personal experiences, and i figured this was a good place to get perspectives other than my own to pass on to her.
A doula, for those who don't know, is professional labor support, providing emotional and physical, but not clinical support to laboring mothers.

5 AnswersDogs1 decade agoMoving away.... need ideas on how to stay in touch?
Well we got the news this week, Hubby is getting a new job!!!!
In another state :( We'll be about ten hours by car from our current home.
We need some good ideas about how to keep in touch with my son's mom. He's almost ten, but hates to write letters. they're "boring." He currently sees her at lest once a week. That is obviously going to change.
How do i foster this relationship long distance?
14 AnswersAdoption1 decade agoso, how much acerage do you need to keep a small flock of sheep?
We're moving to the country, and I would like to raise a small (6-10) flock of Finn sheep for hand spinning and meat. How much land do I need to be looking for, what kind of fencing should I be looking at, and would you go with a llama or a guardian dog for security? (we'll be in the northern plains states)
Thanks!
4 AnswersAgriculture1 decade agoFor Men who were adopted...have you searched? Why or why not?
My dh is adopted with no interest in searching.. and I think he should, if only so that his mother knows that he survived childhood and is a man she could be proud of.
(I'm not talking about an aggressive search, btw... only about listing him with soundex and other free online registries, so that if she is looking, he can be found.)
