What is another way to say someone gains a voice or they learn to speak for themselves?

I just had my first real day of summer and I spent it doing absolutely nothing as usual. My mom works, my brother goes to a "daycare" type thing and my older sister works, so all day, I am home alone. I can't drive so I can't get a job, and it's off-season for my athletics. I literally feel like I have nothing to do. Oh, and I'm in the midst of the awkward teenage stage where I don't have many friends so I can't hang out with anyone. Does anybody have any fun suggestions that require me to get up and outside this summer? Like little mini projects that I can do all summer long, like plant a garden (one in which I plan to do). And if you have anything that would require me to do some learning.. yes, like school, let me know. I need to begin to prepare for next school year.

For my summer reading I have to read any two consecutive books in a series. I've been looking up summaries and other facts about the books and have found quite a few times about the books being prequels or some people asking about the order of the books. I'm wondering if their actually a book series or not?

So my class is doing an in class essay tomorrow on To Kill a Mockingbird CHAPTERS 1-15 and i'm looking through the book right now to find quotes for the topic of the essay. The topic or question we have to answer is "What lessons does Atticus teach his children?" TRUST ME, I have read the book I just hate it when teachers give us the writing prompt AFTER we've read the chapters. I have this one already: "you never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view...until you climb into his skin and walk around in it" (ch. 3)

But are there anymore that you might know of that you can help me out with that are before chapter 15? Or do you know of any parts in the book that Atticus has given his kids advice that I can go look for a specific quote for? It would help sooo much I can't even tell you!

I've searched websites, but I can't find the answer I'm looking for. Can anyone help me?

I'm a 15 year old girl and I've never had breakouts before. I know I am a teenager and it's considered normal, but I started my period about 2 and 1/2 years ago and I haven't had breakouts before this.

I feel like I do everything I can to prevent them like wash my face once to twice a day, I drink lots of water to keep my skin healthy, I don't wear make-up and I also take birth control (not to prevent getting pregnant, trust me, I've never had sex...but I take it to keep my period on track). The birth control has estrogen in it so it should help prevent these breakouts. I don't eat junk food and I don't drink soda so that cant be the problem.

In case your wondering, I wash my face with Aveeno foaming face wash.

Another reason I think I might be having breakouts is because I started doing summer volleyball clinics in an unairconditioned gym. We do workouts that make us drip sweat everywhere including our faces. I always come home after the 2 hours we practice and take a shower and wash my face, but it seems like it's not working.

I do care about my face so much because I usually get complimented on having such clear skin. I don't want to go back to school in September and have acne all over my face. I also don't want to end up with scars for the rest of my life.

If you have any advice, or any at home remedies (something that doesn't include a lot of expensive product, we are on a budget).

I'm doing this social studies project that I've been working about 4 hours on so..help?!

So the project is to find the connection between news from the Gilded Turn of the Centry and today.

An example my teacher gave us is

"Airline pilots going on strike to protest wage decreases as CEO pay hits record highs today is like when the steel workers protested wage cuts wile Carnegie made millions of dollars c. 1900"

..so your just supposed to compare news in the catagories of government/political. business/economic/labor, health/safety/consumer, environmental, and minority americans.

so maybe a current event with women's rights or corrupt business.

..the reason i explained all that is not because i want you to do my project for me, but i do need help finding current events that compare to ones back then.

Ha, remember ive been looking for hours soo..yeah it's not like i just started and decided to cheat on yahoo answers..
