  • How do you say "female winner" in French?

    I thought it was "gagneuse," but WordReference says that that means "hooker." (lol)

    Is it "gagnante?"

    Thanks!

  • Preschool lesson - combining manners and a foreign language?

    I need to give a preschool lesson on manners while incorporating a foreign language such as French or Spanish (for example, a game that teaches a simple phrase like, "s'il vous plait" or something like that.) Any thoughts on games or activities I could do?

    Simple is better.

    Thanks!

  • Aspartame - is it safe or not?

    I drink a lot of flavored waters and chew sugar-free gum, both with aspartame. I've never had any ill side-effects that I can link to my consumption of aspartame, but recently I've been hearing a lot of talk about how it's a carcinogen, how it's bad for your liver, how it can cause blindness and diseases...

    Are these urban myths or is this stuff really not safe to drink?

    If it is dangerous, if I stop consuming it now, will I be okay? I'm pretty young and healthy...

  • Government question - what really is the difference between power and political power?

    I have to write a short essay for government about the difference between power and political power, but I'm not sure I can write a whole paper about the distinction. What do you think?

  • Dinner dilemma - what goes well with BBQ chicken?

    So tonight I'm having a get-together with my friends (we're high school seniors, just to give you an age range) and I was planning on making dinner for them. I know that I want to make BBQ chicken, but I don't really know what to make for a side dish.

    Any suggestions? I want something fairly healthy and easy to make, maybe a rice pilaf or a fruit salad.

    Let me know if you've got any ideas!

    Thanks!

  • TI-83 calculator help - window range?

    I'm trying to get a graph on my calculator (TI-83 version, silver edition) and I think I screwed something up. When I tried to graph something, it zoomed in on the first quadrant (I can see the Y axis on the left and the X axis on the bottom) and I couldn't see the line, so I went to the Window setting and tried to figure what was wrong. Right now, my setting is:

    Xmin=5

    Xmax=10

    Xscl=.25

    Ymin=5

    Ymax=10

    Yscl=1

    Xres=1

    I don't know what these mean or how to fix whatever is wrong, but if someone has an idea, I'd be very, very grateful - I have an exam tomorrow and I can't show up with a screwy calculator. Thanks so much!

  • Psychology experiment - placebo?

    This question is easy, don't worry, and it doesn't take any previous knowledge. It's basically an opinion question.

    So I have to design an experiment for my psych class and I'm studying how caffeine vs. sleep affects academic performance. Here's a quick outline of what I'm gonna do:

    Let two groups study for a test, then let one sleep and give the other one caffeine pills after certain intervals of time and then test both of them and compare performances.

    What I want to know is:

    1) should I have a control group, and if so, what would it be?

    2) OR should I have a placebo group? I could take a third group and give them "caffeine pills" with nothing in them and see how they perform. This seems kinda like a control group to me - no sleep and no caffeine, only they're not aware that they're a control group.

  • French translation (short)?

    Okay, so I have this album on my iPod called "Mundial Corrida." I know what "corrida" means. Does anyone know what "mundial" means, if anything at all? I checked a couple of online translators and they didn't have it, and my English/French dictionary is dated and also does not have.

  • What sorts of things to young (10-12) year old girls like to do?

    I'm babysitting two young girls (in the ten-to-twelve-ish range) for the next week and I don't know what I'm gonna do with them all day. I'm used to babysitting much younger children and I don't know what girls that age like to do. I've been thinking about buying some stuff to do some small crafts, and maybe getting the fixings to make some cookies, but past that, I'm not sure what to do. Any suggestions? What do kids that age like to do?

  • To all you doods out there :)?

    Hey, I already asked this question, but I didn't get as many answers as I'd have liked, so I'm asking again, YAY:

    What do you like in girls? What kind of dates do you like to go on? What do you like to talk about with girls? What kind of clothes/hair do you like? Does size really matter (be honest)? How many dates do YOU think you should go out on before kissing? Feel free to answer any or all of these questions, or give me your own info that I didn't ask about, because I'm really very interested. I'm into psycology and socialology, so it's a fascinating subject for me. Later! :)

  • ASAP: Bio question?

    Can someone please get me a really good website on the Great Dismal Swamp (in VA and NC)? I need to list five dominant plants, five dominant animals, and five dominant fungi/algae/bacteria and I'm having a lot of trouble finding good information. If anyone with an Online Encyclopedia-Brittanica acccount would like to give me the full article on the GDS, that would be great, since I don't have my own account. Any (non-Wikipedia) info would be great. Thanks.

  • Genital wart?

    Every once and a while, I will get a wart/bump/pimple-type-thing on my genital area. I am a virgin, so I know it's not an STD, but I'm still a bit worried. It kinda iches a little bit, but it's usually only one, sometimes two. Is this normal?

  • Spending a day in Washington D.C. with my boyfriend?

    Does anyone have any good suggestions of stuff to do with my bf in Washington D.C. for a weekend afternoon? We're both under eighteen, so nothing too long-winded or w/e. I have been to D.C. many times before and know my way around pretty well, but I can't think of anything fun to do with someone else. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
