Come on now. I watch everyone on this forum arguing about God all the time and it is obvious to me that not all of you are using the same definition. So spell it out for me. Exactly what do you think God is?

I am searching online for a tire pump that I can take with me when I ride. It has been 20 years since I last owned a cycle and things have changed a lot. The tires on the bicycle I received for Christmas aren't fully inflated and I am concerned about riding it with the tires partially inflated. I want to find a pump soon so I can start riding my new cycle.

I'm also willing to listen to any advice aimed at people who haven't been cycling in years. My ears are open.

I asked for, and received, a bicycle for Christmas this year. I now need to buy myself a few accessories for it. I am curious what experiences other riders have had with online accessory stores. Who would you recommend and why? Thanks in advance.

I realize that today we are extremely limited by the touring bikes that are available today compared to a few decades ago. But the golden age of motorcycling has passed us by and we must make due with what is left. So what touring motorcycle would you choose id you had your pick?

Atheists criticize religious people because they say that it is illogical to believe in something for which no perfect proof exists. But, at least religious people (at least those who are somewhat enlightened) Admit that they are relying on faith, which is belief in something that is unproven.

To be an atheist on the other hand requires much more knowledge of God than to be religious. In order to say that God is not real, an atheist must first have a specific definition of God (unless the atheist takes the position that nothing is real).

However, you can almost never get an atheist to spell out exactly what it is that they do not believe is real. I have no problem with those who can explain exactly what it is that they do not believe in. In fact, when I find someone who is willing to explain their unbelief, I find that I rarely disagree with them.

It is illogical to claim to be an atheist simply because you dislike the concept of God, or because you do not understand God. To truly be an atheist requires much more study and understanding of God than it takes to believe in God.

It is illogical to claim to be an atheist without knowing what you are talking about.

OK, so I posted that there is a logical argument for God and I got a slew of responses. Thanks for that.

So both God and black holes have never been seen, they have that in common. There is no physical proof that either one of them exist. The concept of Black Holes comes from the observation of other things. Simply put, scientists cannot explain what they see happening to objects in outer space unless these objects are being affected by huge gravitational forces from objects that they cannot see. These forces becomes the definition of a black hole. This understandable because it deals with physical objects.

Now to the world of the spirit. It is hard to watch the Olympics and deny the human spirit, the triumph of the human will over tremendous obstacles. Everyone admits to the existence of motivation, drive, enthusiasm; these are qualities of the spirit. I submit that humans have a quality called spirit.

Now to logic. I submit that a person's human spirit can be affected by things outside of that person's self. Like the gravity of the mythological Black Hole, something pulls us to and fro. Outside forces cause us to feel elated or depressed without asking our consent. Thousands of years before Freud coined the term "subconscious mind" The science of Logic taught that there was a part of our minds that the conscious mind could not examine. And that there were forces that affected that part of our mind, and that those forces were unknowable. Their affects however, like those of the Black Hole can be observed. From these observations developed a list of the characteristics that affected the mind. This list became the definition of God.

So there is my brief explanation of the Logical God. I realize that many will complain that I have neither condemned anyone to Hell nor promised any Heaven. I leave those contrivances to those who would argue for a non-logical God.

Everyone seems to attack the logical approach to understanding the concept of God. Why do both Atheists and the Religious reject Logic? It seems silly to me.

We are all communicating using words. How do you define "Word". Does this definition affect your understanding of the communication that words provide? Do words mean the same thing to all of us? How effective do you think words are at transferring the meaning in the speakers mind to the mind of the listener?

If someone is that offended because I don't agree with them I don't want to waste my time replying to them or reading what they have to say to me.

It does not matter if you are Religious or an Atheist, you can still answer this question. By construct I am referring to how the idea of God is built. What is it constructed from? In the beginning, before we had all these stories about God, how did someone come up with the idea of God. Where do you think this idea came from?

There is a setting for humidity level that is given in percent. What is a reasonable setting for the humidity level?

I am curious how this is handled. I have not seen a dingy on or near any of the sailboats that have seen.

I am moving to a small town on the Chesapeake Bay. I have a really great job but the housing market is dismal. Given that I haven't seen a house I like for under several hundred thousand I am wondering if I wouldn't be farther ahead to buy a really nice boat and live on that.

OK, I realize that I need to figure the costs for slip rental with water and electric, regular pump out service, and satellite TV. They have a great marina here with 500 slips so that shouldn't be a problem. Fuel for a big boat is costly but basically I am not going anywhere.

Does this sound reasonable and what kind of boat should I be looking for?
