  • One confusing Japanese sentence. Could any fluent people please assist?

My friend asked me to translate a song for her. Most of it was very easy, but one line in particular is entirely lost on my English brain.

    うつりゆくときのながれにこころを

I understand the basic words, moving, flow of time, heart... but what order would you even put that in?!

"Keep the flow of time moving in your heart" was my best guess, but that doesnt sound right to me. Could anyone more familiar with the language please offer a second opinion? Thank you!

  • Uneven ear piercing and scarring. How to fix it?

I had my ears pierced when I was 7. I am now 23, so clearly I'm not just going to "get over it"

The idiot who pierced my ears did perfectly in one ear, and then messed up the other. She started to put the needle in, then decided it was too high, dragged it down (cutting the skin, scarring it) and pierced it too low. My mother, a doormat as always, refused to have her correct them. Now I have one ear that looks like the earring is falling out at all times. I cannot wear earrings without someone pointing it out.

Due to the horrible cut at the entry, all these years later the front of the hole will close up, but only a tiny bit of it. I would like to get my ears re-pierced, but the majority of the hole is permanently in-tact. Is there any way that the hole can be corrected to allow me to have normal holes so I can actually wear earrings? I'd be open to a plastic surgeon at this point, I'm just not sure if it's possible given that 4/5 of the hole is never closing again. Any advice?

  • Is there a place in or very close to Tampa airport to purchase pepper spray?

I'm going to be travelling solo to the tampa area for business in a few weeks. I really don't like being out alone, much less in an unfamiliar area, without pepper spray. Never had to use it but I'd rather be prepared than sorry. I'm an exceptionally tiny female, so I was hoping to purchase some quickly (as in, before I get into a cab/uber).

My airline doesn't even allow small quantities in even checked bags, and my hotel won't allow me to mail it. Any idea where I could get some in the tampa area close to the international airport?

    Thanks for your help!

  • I look terrible in skirts. Help?

This is going to be such a weird question, and for that I'm sorry. I was just hoping for some advice on how to find a type of skirt that looks good on me.

Common advice says that having an hourglass figure means that you look good in any kind of skirt. This is a LIE. I do have an hourglass figure, but my waist isn't just small, it's short as well! So wearing a skirt that's straight down or goes in ends up making me look like a number 8, and wearing one that flows out also just looks weird.

When wearing pants, it's easy to tell that that weirdness is just my shape, but with skirts it' looks like I've unnaturally cinched my waist because my backside sticks out too far. Is there any way to look normal in a skirt? 2015 normal, not 1950s mom normal? Having a short waist really stinks sometimes OTL Any help?

  • How many grams does one wilton candy melt weigh?

If anyone happens to have a scale and candy melts handy, would you be willing to do this experiment for me? My scale is broken, and I need approximately 50g of candy melts. If I knew how many grams one weighed, it would be easy to calculate around how many to use, as they're all about the same size. Any help please? Thanks for reading!

  • Celiac disease seemingly helped by alcohol. Can anyone please help me understand this?

Hello~ To get to business, I have celiac disease. I have been on a gluten free diet for nearly two years now, and have improved quite a bit. Unfortunately, yesterday I glutened myself accidentally.

I have had a full 36 hours of intense bloating, other swelling, cloudy vision, headaches, pain, gas, the whole shebang. This torment arises every time I come in contact with gluten, and oddly enough it's almost over now.

Every time I gluten myself, these symptoms continue for days unless I go buy some form of alcohol and consume it. I had such a distended stomach an hour ago that I looked 6 months pregnant, now I barely have any at all. For some reason, alcohol calms my intestines within just a few hours.

Can anyone explain this or help me understand it? I'm in school to be a dietitian right now, and there's nothing in the research to support this. Yet it happens. I have used this 'treatment' six times in the last two years, and each time it works. Why?

  • How, and when, to transition from learning one language to another, or simply adding another? (Japanese to Italian)?

I just finished the Japanese textbook Genki 1. It was a very good book, and I intend to continue with Genki 2 as well.

The thing is, I'd also like to learn Italian. I'm not really looking for true fluency in either language, just enough that I could go to either country and get around well enough.

I'm afraid I'll mess myself up if I add another language in too soon, or if I'm done with my Japanese materials I might forget some of it when learning Italian.

Can anyone give any advice, tips, or recommendations on this? For that matter, can anyone recommend a good Italian book for self-teaching?

Thank you so much for your help!

  • How can I make the jello no-bake cheesecake pudding mix taste more like a real no-bake cheesecake?

I'm in a bit of a rush and need to make some kind of cake or cheesecake quickly. I do not have one of the jello no-bake cheesecake kits on hand, but I do have two boxes of the cheesecake pudding mix and can whip up a crust easily.

Is there any way to give it more of a cheesecake texture and taste? I was thinking of just adding in some cream cheese and a little less milk. Would this work?

Any advice at all would be very appreciated!

  • How soon after having a cavity filled can I use Crest 3D White Gentle Whitestrips?

I forgot to ask the dentist, and was hoping someone here would know. I had a cavity filled earlier and was wondering how long I should wait before using whitestrips. I can't believe I got a cavity in the first place, definitely don't want to add more problems on top of it!

Thanks so much for any advice!

  • Car question: An 05 Dodge Stratus with 90,000 miles on it.?

I'm in desperate need of a car (I'm not telling the seller that of course). I found a 2005 dodge stratus for sale for $2000, and other than a few small dents, it looks fine to me. I was planning to have a mechanic take a look at it, but for anyone who knows something about this make and model, would you steer clear of a stratus with that kind of mileage or do you think it could be a dependable car?

I end up driving about 350 miles a week, I'm just paranoid that this is one of those types of cars that seldom gets past 100k. Any advice for a girl who knows nothing about cars?

  • Norwegian recipe, could anyone help me remember the name please?

There's been a recipe in my family ever since they got off the boat from Norway. I know how to make it, but It's pronounced so differently from anything in English that I've no clue how to spell it. I'd really like to know and compare our recipe with any others out there.

Phonetically, it sounds sort of like 'phindrusk', and it's made of salt pork, lard, seasonings, and ground potatoes and their juices. It's a special occasion only dish, and usually had lefse on the side. Does anyone know the name of this? And if so, could you please tell me? Any help would be appreciated!

  • Trying to decide on a data plan, any advice?

I should open this by saying that I'm not a phone person. I'm 21 and just now learned how to send a text. I hate phones. However, I've decided that I want to get a smart phone so I can have some basic internet functions without having to carry around a laptop, but can't afford a tablet at the moment. Could anyone please give me some advice on what kind of data plan I should get?

I only plan to use it for very rare calls, some quick google or wiki searches, the occasional tumblr check, and probably skype instant messaging (I use that pretty often).

I have the option to get a 500MB plan or a 1G plan. Which do you think I should buy? Sorry if this sounds stupid, I'm really clueless about phones. Thank you for any advice!

  • Cool skin tone + ash blonde. Good mix or bad?

Hiya~ I was hoping for some fashion advice from some of you with some haircolor expertise. I really can't seem to remember if you're supposed to keep cool with cool or cool + warm for a balance...

Long story short, I have to get a blonde wig. But I'm not going to be able to try it on (no wig shop anywhere near me). One is a cool ash blonde, and the other is a warm golden blonde.

I have a cool skintone. Actually I'm a cool Winter. Black hair, ice blue eyes, skin so pale people think I've got albinism... yeah. So given that description and the fact that I'm prone to blushing, would you suggest I go for ash blonde or golden blonde? I prefer the look of the ash, but I don't know how it'll look on me.

  • Gluten intolerance and wine. It seems to help, am I crazy?

Hi, I'm experiencing something I can't find any medical evidence for and was just wondering if A. There is any. or B. Anyone has felt the same.

I was diagnosed with Celiac disease about a year ago, and my main symptoms are crippling pain and bloating after eating anything with gluten in it. After accidentally eating normal pasta one day, it got really bad. So my aunt pulled out a bottle of wine and made me drink half a glass of it. The pain and bloating went away within 30 minutes.

Every time I've glutened myself badly since then, I've downed half a glass of wine. Instead of being in pain for 6+ hours, it only lasts up to one. Even weirder (I know I shouldn't have tried this), I can eat a little bit of gluten without issue if I have wine with the meal. Is there some reason this works? And more importantly, is there anything besides wine that has this effect? I'm not the biggest fan of alcohol...

Any help, advice, etc would be really appreciated! Thank you for reading <3

  • Emergency help. Flooded in, dog just had a seizure. Please help!?

I am trying to stay calm but will someone, anyone please help me or advise me? My dog just had a seizure. She's never had one before in her life. I can't get her to the vet, as I live in the south and its currently flooded. We just now got power back, and there are downed lines everywhere. I can't reach the vet and this is urgent.

I know what a canine seizure looks like, and she was definitely having one. She was sleeping on my lap one moment and the next she moved off of me onto the sofa, lay on her side, tensed up, pawed at the air and stared off into space, and eventually became completely stiff. That's a seizure. She has since snapped out of it and is smacking a stuffed bird around like nothing happened.

She's a 3 year old, 3 lb Chihuahua (She is a rescue from a 'breeder' who claimed to be breeding teacup Chihuahuas and was abusing them. And the runt of the litter at that. She's not underweight for her size, has had all shots, and has been called the picture of health by her vet.)

She seems fine right now, could this have been a one time thing? Do I let her nap again when she wants to later? What can I do between now and when I'm able to get her to a vet safely? I'm sorry for freaking out but this is my fuzzy-baby, I've raised her from an abused bottle fed 4 week old. Any advice at all would be appreciated. I'm terrified.

  • Does this price sound fair to you? I'm selling my textbooks.?

I'm finally out of Organic Chemistry (Thank the Lord!!!) so I plan to sell my Textbook, Solutions Manual, and Model Set. I've found out that buying all of these things USED from the school store would be $233.15. I was going to ask $150 for the lot and it's all in good condition considering I bought it new. Does this sound fair to you? What would you charge? I don't want to rip anyone off, but I purposefully took care of these just so I could sell them once the course was finished.

Any and all advice is appreciated! Thank you~

  • Is this Japanese to English translation correct?

The conjugation here has thrown me off... The sentence is "Yoru wa omoitsuzukete ireba kitto kana?"

I think this means "I wonder, will I always continue thinking of that night?"

    Is that correct?

Thanks so much for your help! \(^o^)/

  • What degree should I pursue to become a dietician?

I have had a horrible yet empowering eureka moment... I have been a pre-pharmacy major at my community college now for two years. I should be graduating soon... However, I just realized that I hate chemistry. It wasn't the chemicals in the medicines that interested me, it was the way they reacted with the body. I've always loved food, and how simply changing your diet can help so many health problems. I have ever since my stomach issues were settled by a dietician when I was little... I just never really paid attention to that desire before!

Now, I'm in my last year before I transfer. I've had my biologies, I'm about to take Anatomy and physiology, nutrition, and I'm in organic chemistry now. What other classes do I need to take before I transfer somewhere for my Bachelor's degree? And for that matter, what major should I switch to? I'm not even sure what the associates degree is called that leads into a bachelors in food and nutrition. I'm completely lost and my counseling center isn't open for the rest of the weekend.

Could anyone with any experience in this please advise me on this? I'm just thanking God that Pre-pharm and nutrition have similar courses... Is there any specific course I should take before I enter the bachelor's program?

  • What does this Japanese sentence mean?

Could someone please tell me what "Mata ashita hanashitari nai koto mo aru kedo" means?

I think it's something close to "When I see you tomorrow I'd like to tell you something but I don't know how to say it". Unfortunately and ironically, I don't know how to say this xD

Could anyone else give it a try please? Thanks so much for reading!
