What should I do after 4th year? Please help...?
This is my situation: I live in Canada, getting a BSc. I am able to graduate this year, but I'm not sure if I should. My GPA is around a 3.5.
Now I have no idea what I want to do with my life or career but I want a profession. I was thinking Physiotherapy but I need to do a LOT more research. The problem is my GPA is definitely not good enough for many programs (most PT programs have a cutoff around 3.7-3.8). I also lack experience in the fields and true direction.
I can do a number of things:
1. Apply for a plethora of things (grad school, PT/OT, sonographer, respiratory therapy) without any strong direction (but an interest) and pray I get in somewhere. I then attend that school but I'm afraid that it won't be what I really want to do and I'll end up in the same position I'm in now.
2. Get out of school and get a job. Getting a good job seems unlikely for me as I have zero work experience and the job market sucks.
3.Stay in school longer to boost my GPA and explore career options (shadowing, volunteering etc). Apply next year.
I'm so confused and would really like some input. Thanks!!
1 AnswerHigher Education (University +)9 years agoIndifferent, messy sister...?
Basically my sister is a messy disaster. I would care less if she kept it to her room. But she destroys our shared washroom. Not only is it distrubing on a daily basis, if anyone else sees it, I'm lumped in. Its never HER mess, its THEIR mess. My uncle from out of town came over, saw the bathroom and was disgusted. My brother explained it was THEIR bathroom. I told my sister but she couldn't care less.
It really, really bothers me. She never keeps it clean and I can't clean it for her on a daily basis. I actually DO clean her mess, but only when I'm scrubbing down the whole bathroom. (She nevers helps out with that either).
Please tell me how to deal with this as I'm going out of my mind with shame right now...How do I get through to her???
I'm 21 btw, she's 17. Our parents won't do anything except say "clean it" which only I will do.

5 AnswersFashion & Accessories9 years agoHELP!!! Election troubles...?
Let's say an organization held an election, with two candidates. One candidate had previously given their intent to run wheras another joined in on the spot. It turns out that the constitution says that adding on the spot isn't allowed. So the second candidate won with more votes but was invalid. What should we do to be absolutely fair?
2 AnswersCurrent Events9 years agoLooking for experience with stress?
As someone who is still studing in university (Bachelors) and have no qualifications, what can I do that may involve stress?
I'm looking for jobs or volunteering positions where I might encounter stress. I want to do this to learn how to handle it and to see exactly how much I can take.
Also, what are some really rewarding summer jobs?
1 AnswerOther - Careers & Employment9 years agoShould I commute or find off-campus housing?
I'm entering my 4th year and have never lived away from home. To live off campus, my expenses will amount to almost 2000 a month (Toronto), inclding bachelor room, food, transport. Currently, transport costs up to 420/month and I can't assess food and utilities. My commute is 3.5 hours long (roundtrip).
One of the reasons I want to commute is that I am very tired all the time, waking up extra early and getting home late so I spend a lot of time doing useless stuff to unwind. Also, I have two younger siblings who don't respect that I'm in university and have a lot of work (my sister will go to uni in the fall but she thinks she has more work than me while she's in grade 12). Living with my family can be very distracting (a 5 person household gets loud). I also want to gain independence and be able to gain some level of decisionmaking skills.
Why commuting is better: THE COST. Secondly, I'm afraid I might get very lonely and even depressed because I am not the most sociable person out there. On the other hand, I need to stop relying on my siblings for social interactions because they have many friends, no time for me and act as if I'm a baby that they need to put up with.
The cost would be paid by my parents (student loan) and I'll be getting a job but the most I can expect from that is 400/month. And my sister is starting uni next year...

What test would you use to determine if a value is significantly different from the mean.
Lets say I have a set of values and find the mean. I want to know how close one of the values is to the mean.
1 AnswerHomework Help9 years agoHow much should I charge for tutoring?
I want to start tutoring children (grades 5-8) in math. I was really good at math all throughout grade school (when I mean good...I mean 90/100s in high school). Currently, I'm in university, but studying sciences. I don't have any previous experience tutoring but I do have previous experience with children. I also am not going to tutor at home but at a public location, such as a library. Also, because I haven't done math in a while, I chose to tutor public school kids as I can catch up on their curriculum relatively fast.
With my lack of qualifications, how much do you think I should charge for private tutoring? Is 20/hr reasonable? 15/hr?
P.S. If you are a parent, would you consider hiring me?

I need an experimental technique where pipetting is very important (accuracy etc).
The only technique I know which requires pipetting is electrophoresis and its derivatives (like Western blotting etc)
1 AnswerOther - Science9 years agoHow do I get my brother to read more?
My brother is intelligent but he doesn't bother to apply it. He never...and I mean NEVER...reads. He says it doesn't interest him. But there is a problem when he cannot describe what the word "swell" means...he described it as a twisting action.
He gets mad at me when I tell him to read because he feels like I'm insulting his intelligence. I don't want him to feel insulted. He says that not everyone studies like a maniac like me and he has a life. How can I encourage him to read without appearing to be condescending? He is 15 btw.
1 AnswerFamily9 years agoI want to change my personality?
I want to change my personality..I need to be more active.
Right now, I'm a very passive person and because of that my grades (in university) are slipping and I get nothing done. Also, I don't spend my time on anything productive, not even making friends.
How can I really force myself to become more active and make my life worth something?

What is its mechanism of action? I know some people will say its not a diuretic but that's only in those who have adapted to caffeine. Sources would be appreciated.
2 AnswersDiet & Fitness10 years agoWhere to find a good source for my paper?
I am doing a research paper for university and I need a source to describe the general wine-making process and fermentation.
The problem is, this information is too general for scholarly journals, which are very specific. I know the process because I read wikipedia and a few other "wine fan sites" or so I like to call them....but where can I find a legit source for university?
1 AnswerHomework Help10 years agoWhat to do with old ipod nano?
I have an old iPod Nano (2nd gen). It stopped working a few years ago suddenly (no, the menu + center button doesn't work to revive it).
Back then, it was after the warrenty expired so I didn't contact Apple to do anything. I was wondering if there was anyway I could get it to work myself? Does anyone have any ideas what might be wrong with it?

4 AnswersPersonal Finance10 years agoConvention of blood vessel colours..?
Usually arteries are depicted as red and veins are depicted as blue.
But, is it because arteries are oxygenated or is it just convention?
I'm asking because the pulmonary arteries are deoxygenated and the pulmonary veins are oxygenated? So would they be red and blue (cuz of convention) or blue and red (cuz of oxygen)?
If you look at this pic, it seems as though the colouring is based on oxygenation:
4 AnswersBiology10 years agoFormating is stuck? Help?
I have a 1 Tb external harddrive. I want to reformat it. I've reformatted before but with 4096 allocation units. It was soo slow so I chose 64 kb this time (I want to store music and videos).
The first time I formated it, the computer overheated and randomly shut down. Now when I reformatted, I left it on all night, but it didn't even get to 25 %. Is it stuck? Can I do anything?
2 AnswersOther - Computers10 years agoDon't know what to do?
Okay..time for a rant.
I have absolutly no friends that I talk to on a daily basis. During the summer I am home most of the time and I can't help but hang out with my little sister and brother (16 and 14..im 20 btw).
Being around them is like poison however. When we are on good terms with each other, all my sister does is talk about herself and doesn't have any interest in what's important to me. If we're on bad terms, both my siblings bring me down a lot, saying I have no friends, that I'm a loser, that I'm not going anywhere in life etc. I just can't help going back to them though cuz I feel like I need to be around someone. Its also really galling to be told what to do by younger siblings...they have no respect for me.
Other than "make friends", how can I resolve the lack of respect my siblings have for me?
3 AnswersFamily10 years agoHow to stop being influenced by my sister?
I'm 20 and my sister is 16. (and I'm kind of a nerd)
I've realized that because I'm the oldest out of my siblings and the oldest out of every single one of my cousins, I've become a bit immature. I really don't have anyone my own age to talk to. Because of this, I know my sister has a lack of respect for me. We have a great relationship, we really get along. But sometimes, when its my turn to talk or something, I know she feels as if she has to
"put up" with me and she's tired of me.
I always ask advice from her about clothes and stuff instead of the other away around. She always has her friends to talk to but I don't have anyone else so this may be another reason she disrespects me and acts as if I'm the child and a loser.
What do I do so that I gain her respect and stop depending on her so much?
