  • our 3 1/2 year old wont give up her dummy!!! please help us think of gentle ways to wean her off it?

our lovely little girl likes to have a dummy at night for comfort purposes but we have noticed that her teeth are starting to become misaligned.can anybody think of gentle ideas so we can wean her off it??? we've tried a couple of times to withdraw the dummy but she became so distraught and fretful that we gave in and handed it back.it was probably the worst thing we could have done as i suppose now she knows we may cave again and she'll get it back if she screams loud enough!any (kind!) suggestions will be most appreciated - thanks in advance xx

  • my best friend's husband is a nightmare- how can i help her?

my best friend has been married for 6 years & her husband is becoming more & more hostile & violent towards her.he cant bear to be in the same room as her, goes out every night when she's not working, threatens her verbally in front of their 2 young kids and is generally evil to her. he has a very public side( business owner) & is all sweetness& light but his private side is simply dreadful. nobody would believe how awful he is behind closed doors but i have had the misfortune to see it & it was as tho' i wasnt even there. he's a big drinker but she makes excuses for this by saying " oh he works hard & needs a release"( boll*cks!)there surely can be no excuse for his behaviour.she almost left him earlier tonight after he had a massive tantrum but he came back b4 she could leave & now she's decided to stay. this has happenend so many times over the years i wonder how she has the energy 2keep going.i know she stays cos of the boys but i fear 4 her safety.each time he gets worse
