Yesterday I asked about a jacket from ASOS, and now I've come across a unique necklace from Hong Kong.. both had low-priced shipping but said buyer is responsible for additional charges!
Is this customs? Have you ever had to pay? How much, usually? Or do I have nothing to worry about??

1 AnswerRap and Hip-Hop1 decade agoWhich is a better resume action word?
I'm getting into the magazine editing business, so I should probably know this, but which sounds better:
Conducted research for the style editor
Researched materials for the style editor
Compiled research for the style editor
Lame sentence aside, which most sounds like I did research for the style editor?
Thank you!
3 AnswersOther - Careers & Employment1 decade agoGrammar question.. "each" is singular, but what about this?
Do I want to say "the courtyard and the penthouse each hold 100 people" or "each holdS 100 people"
It's my understanding that "each" requires a singular verb but I'm really struggling with this one.. help, please?
7 AnswersWords & Wordplay1 decade agoTheatrical performing artists for events?
I'm looking for a group like Redmoon (http://redmoon.org)/ that pulls together various forms of art to perform for events.
Basically, a group for hire that can enhance an event's atmosphere through performance art, either by catering or unusual acrobatics or unique installations.
If you know of any, please post!! Location does not matter as long as they are within the US. Thank you:D

2 AnswersNew York City1 decade agoCan I pick your brain about Blackberrys?
I use Tmobile and have a nice little phone, but I feel like my new career path and life in NYC would be better suited for a Blackberry. I'm not eligible for an upgrade for about 8 months, so I guess I'm going to buy one used. I don't know how yet, not the point:D But researching them has me so confused!
Anyway, which model should I get? Does it matter if it's an older one? What are the newer ones? I feel as though GPS and WiFi would be important to me (though I've never had them on a phone before), probably also a camera function. I have friends with the Storm, they regret it, so that's probably not going to be an option for me. What would be the best one to look for on Ebay/Craigslist/etc? I've bought a phone from eBay before, but what should I look out for with a Blackberry?
Thanks for your help:D Anything else to help would be appreciated, also!
2 AnswersCell Phones & Plans1 decade agoMoving.. to NYC! Now what?
A lot of you did a great job with my last question, but this one has a few tweaks and additional questions that didn't quite get hammered out last time..
I am planning a two-week trip to NYC for interviews and apartment hunting. I'll be staying with a college acquaintance (she lives in Hoboken, New Jersey).
Instead of flying, I'm taking the train (easier on all parties involved.) What's your experience with Penn Station?
As for apartment hunting.. my job will be with magazine publishing companies such as Conde Nast and Hearst, so I would like to be in an affordable area (meaning rent $1000 a month or less) where I can get to these places without too much trouble. Any ideas? I will probably utilize Craigslist, but what other ways are there to find good apartments?
I've been looking in Hoboken, and in Brooklyn I'm keeping my search in Park Slope because I don't know much about the other areas. Anywhere else I should expand to? I'm 22 and a roommate would be ideal, since I'm new and all. I'm fairly low-maintenance but don't want somewhere unsafe!
I think that might be all.. any other general tips? I really appreciate ANY help:D It's pretty daunting!

I have no idea where to start! I am planning a two-week trip to NYC for interviews and apartment hunting. I'll be staying with a college acquaintance (she lives in Hoboken, New Jersey).
Mk, so first- flying in. I'm from Ohio, and I'm guessing I fly into JFK? Are there other airports with better deals on flights, or that I might want to avoid like the plague?

5 AnswersNew York City1 decade agoFollowing up for an internship..?
I applied for an internship about a week ago and just got a reply from the editor that my application is being considered. I'm not quite sure what to say back (or should I say anything at all?) to sound like I'm enthusiastic but not wasting her time. This is for a magazine in NYC.
Help? Thanks!!
1 AnswerOther - Careers & Employment1 decade agoHow do I move to New York City?
I'm looking on Craigslist for roommates and housing but don't know where to start. I want to pursue a career in magazines, many of which are located in Manhattan. Does it matter which borough I live in? I've only been to NYC twice, so any and all help will be appreciated!
5 AnswersNew York City1 decade agoWhy do some internships require college credit?
I recently graduated with a degree in magazine journalism. I'm ready to get my foot in the door by any means necessary- even unpaid internships. So why, oh WHY, for so many (especially Conde Nast) is college credit a requirement?
The application states "you MUST be able to receive college credit." I know they say that.. but is there any way to get around it?

You would think that if they had the opportunity to get a college grad they would take it, right? Yet the application states "you MUST be able to receive college credit."
3 AnswersOther - Careers & Employment1 decade agoIs there a guide to COACH purses?
I just bought a beautiful purse second-hand.. but I can't seem to find what collection it belonged to. I'd like to just search a giant catalog of COACH purses!
From research I seem to be able to peg it to 2005-2006 ish but I can't find it in an actual collection, just the occassional mention of 'Ergos.'
It's a white leather pleated hobo, style 8b15.
3 AnswersFashion & Accessories1 decade agoWhat is the name of this Coach purse?
I just bought a beautiful Coach purse second-hand, and it came with an e-Bay print-out that showed how much it was selling for, I guess. Anyway, it said it was a Hamptons, which I'm guessing is the collection, but the research I've found doesn't lead to the same conclusion..
here is a pic:

The leather patch with the creed says it is an 8b15, if that helps.
Also, what is the specific feature of the Hamptons collection? I'm new to Coach, obviously!
2 AnswersFashion & Accessories1 decade agoIs jewelry from GUESS? cheap?
There is a bracelet from GUESS? that I really want to buy, but the package didn't say what it was made of and the ladies couldn't tell me if they thought it would tarnish easily. What is your experience on the quality?
It's at a GUESS? outlet, too, but I don't think that should make a difference.. the bracelet is a silver cuff ("c-shaped") so it will look bad if it begins to tarnish. Thanks!
