I just moved to Greenwich Village for my first year of university and I am in desperate need of a hair cut. I have short hair that needs to be cut every month or two, or else it gets out of control. I'm looking to get a haircut for less than $50, but everywhere I look has a very unbalanced mix of glowing reviews and absolutely horrible reviews. Suggestions?

I have a LaCie d2 quadra 1tb external hard drive that I use with a Macbook running Tiger OS4. I use the LaCie infrequently (having only bought it a few months ago) but frequently enough.

Yesterday, Finder and Safari stopped responding while I was backing up files on the drive. I shut down the computer and disconnected the drive. The drive will no longer mount. It does show up on Disk Utility, but I can't repair the drive or anything, it gives me an error. I used a Data Rescue demo and it showed that my files are still intact on the drive. The blue light is on, and makes a few noises, only to make many after a few minutes and then 'spin down' and quiet completely, though the light remains on. The green light on on the power adapter is unchanging.

Is there any way to get the drive to mount, preferably without losing data?

I have a two year old laptop. Being that it is white, it gets dirty very easily. Recently I have been bothered by how nasty the little areas beneath the keys on the keyboard probably are. How can I clean my keyboard at home without taking the keys off? Do any of those keyboard vacuums work, and if so, which ones? I know about the compressed air you can buy and whatnot, but wouldn't that just push the dirt around beneath the keys, not get rid of it?

I have had Tiger OS X for three years on a 13" white Macbook. Now that I am planning to buy an external hard drive for music and photos, it was suggested that I upgrade to Leopard. I have yet to hear any opinions of it by Mac users, though.

So, pros/cons of Leopard? Review, do you like it? Leopard vs. Tiger?

And also, were I to purchase Leopard, could I install it without losing all of my information, or would I have to back everything up and put it back on the laptop once Leopard was installed?

I received a call on my cell phone from 800-486-3147, and a recorded message telling me to call Paragon Way. Internet research has shown me that this company has been known for constant calling of people's numbers since 2006, always asking for social security numbers or insisting that they have debt to collect. I am a minor, have had this number for three years, and have no debt. Apparently the Do Not Call list has not helped anyone.

Personal experience? How do you get rid of these people? Their messages cost me money, and I've had two in two weeks.

My sister and I have both come down with a mind (for me, at least) but uncomfortable virus that involves mostly congestion and a sore throat. She's stayed home from school, but I have literally seven tests next week, so I don't have that option. I worry that my throat will get worse.

What are some remedies for a sore throat, either to relieve the pain/feeling or heal it? I'll take any suggestions, be they brand names of lozenges, food types, beverages, etc.

I'm not fond of tea, but if there's a certain type that would help, I'll try it.

I know she's for abstinence only education, and therefore against contraceptive education in schools. I also know she's anti-abortion, not that such is a contraceptive in the sense I mean.

What is her opinion on birth control, condoms, etc, as in being sold to the public? Would she prefer them banned or is she okay with them? I'd assume from her other stances that she is against contraceptive use, but I'd like to be sure.

Saosin, my favorite band, is signed to Capitol Records, and currently working on their sophomore album with the label at Hurley Studios. They're tracking it now, and already have a few songs finished. This would have been their second week of tracking (they have a live feed up).

They're going on tour starting about the second week of October, and will be in my area on October 21st. Do you think the new album will have been released by then, or will the label be busy pressing/advertising and doing whatever else they have to do before selling it?

I'm writing a book review for World History on Cod by Mark Kurlansky. I don't want to keep saying 'fish' and 'product' over and over again. Does commodity work for fish as a commercial project, or does it not apply to game?

I've know a guy for almost two years now. He's older than me, lives far away, and we communicate mostly through the internet. We've been together through everything. I've talked him down from drug relapses and stuff. We were very, very close.

He'd gotten pretty busy lately, with work and stuff, but he still talked to me when he could. He still seemed interested in our friendship. 3am on Saturday, he left one of his usual sweet comments on a story of mine he was reading. But at 11am on the same day, he's deleted me from all profiles, etc. He's obviously mad at someone. I've done nothing, though. When I try to talk to him, he tells me he needs a change, is moving on, and is therefore abandoning me. He completely blew me off, and acted like he truly did not care anymore.

I tried to give him space. I hoped that maybe he'd come around. But it's only been a day and I could not take it. We were so close, this is very debilitating for me. So I messaged him, asking in the very least for a reason for my abandonment. I know he was there. He ignored me and signed off without a word.

Will he come around in time? Is there some underlying reason? He's had a tough life.

I know the only one who can resolve this is him. But any insight or advice anyone can offer would be appreciated.

I had a stye on my right eye in the beginning of the summer, and was absolutely miserable during a trip to Venice as a result. Now my eye is hurting again in the same place, and beginning to swell.

BESIDES topical medication and warm compresses (I'm already using both), is there anything else I can do to keep it from getting all huge and painful? School starts Monday.

Our air conditioning, purchased six years ago, has broken five times since it's installation. It breaks once every summer (excluding only last year), and is broken now. Each time it fails, we end up paying the company $800+ to fix the problem, only for it to break again the next year. The company says there is nothing that can be done besides pay again to fix the problem. We have now paid in repairs over half of what the system cost initially.

Is there any kind of law in Maryland, like a "lemon law", that would force the company to install a new system or something?
