Siouxsie Is a Punk Shocker

Hi! I'm Maria Sol and I'm from Buenos Aires, Argentina. I'll be turning 17 soon.    Some of my favorite bands are Sigur Rós, Siouxsie & the Banshees, Casiokids, The Knife, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Talking Heads, Deerhunter and Radiohead. I love learning about the world, and I'm especially interested in Russia, Japan, Holland, Norway and Iceland. I like watching anime and foreign films. Favorite movies: Nói Albinoi, Les 400 Coups, Factory Girl, Heima, and Patrik, Age 1.5.   I love 19th/20th century literature. Favorite authors: Poe, Tolstoy, Fitzgerald and Wilde.  I love art.     I'm a vegetarian and atheist. Some messed-up people I admire (for whatever messed-up reasons): Jón Þor Birgisson, Agyness Deyn, Andy Warhol, Edie Sedgwick, David Bowie.  Current obsession: "What Else Is There?" by Röyksopp

  • How do you say "This is me" in Icelandic?

I thought it would be "Þetta er mig," but Google Translate says that it's "Þetta er ég." I just want to double check because a lot of times Google Translate translates things wrong, and it's for a school paper. Thanks!

  • You've got to be punking kidding me?

Yeah, I know... "punking" is a real word and that's not how it's used. But, seriously, whoever is in charge of this list-- well, it's beyond words. See for yourselves.

What's the trippiest song you've ever heard? Dandelion by the Rolling Stones is definitely up there... literally.

  • Hello R&P! Alice In Chains vs. David Bowie? BQ's!?

Hello, my fellow Rock & Poppers. I recently stumbled upon a very interesting cover, and I wanted to share it with you. Tell me what you think! It's Suffragette City by two very talented artists, David Bowie and Alice In Chains.

Cover by Alice In Chains, 1989:

Original by David Bowie (for those of you who have been deprived of its greatness), 1972:

BQ: So, which one do you like better?

BQ2: Do you have any other interesting findings that you'd like to share?

    BQ3: How was your day?

If you would be so kind to star this question, I think everyone needs to listen to this :)

BQ4: More importantly: did anyone see Sherlock Holmes? Is it the best movie ever or what?!

Star, all you Starmen (and women)! So that we can bring more life to this place :) Yeah, that was corny, I know.

  • Hey, everybody! Where did Mary go? And where's my only cigarette?

Wanna play a game? Ok, so you have to choose one band and try to combine song titles to make a *funny* sentence. If you must, you can choose songs from different bands. If you can't think of anything that's necessarily funny, just make whatever sentence you can with your chosen songs. You can also add a few words (such as to, and, if, etc.), or take out a few, if you HAVE to. Also, write which songs you used and from which bands.

BQ: Can anyone guess what song the question's from?

  • Black Gives Way to Blue?

I know this question has probably been asked already, but...

In my opinion, it's amazing. But to think that Layne's not with us anymore... *sigh.*

What do you think of it?

BQ: Favorite song from the album?

    RIP Layne Staley

  • Do you ever listen to the hidden tracks?

I think "Endless, Nameless" is a great song (Something In the Way - Nirvana).

Are there any hidden tracks you like to listen to, or do you just skip them?

  • Would you like to dedicate a song to John Lennon?

As we all know (well, maybe not "all") John Lennon was shot on this same day in 1980 outside of the Dakota building in NYC. So, if you would like, you can dedicate a song to his ashes... well, maybe not. But, I think we should all share a song that we like in his honor.

BQ: Do you like the Beatles?

BQ1: Who's your favorite Beatle? Why, if you'd like.

    BQ2: Favorite dead musician?

Imagine all the people living for today.

    RIP John Lennon ♥

  • What are some of the funniest rock lyrics?

Do you sometimes buy songs just to laugh along with the lyrics? Or fall in love with a song because of them?

Also, can you share a song that makes you... well, rofl.

Mine's Peace Sells by Megadeth. It's such an amazing song, too...

  • Roger Waters or David Gilmour?

Personally, I think they're both equally as talented. I love both their voices, and I think that Pink Floyd wouldn't really be Pink Floyd if it was missing any one of its members. Of course, they did go on after Roger left, but that only backs up my point. For example, The Division Bell wasn't "bad," it was just different, and definitely lacking something. I know people who can't stand Roger Waters, but I think he seems like a pretty nice person (maybe a little over-confident, but he has his reasons). I really can't say anything bad about David Gilmour. Your thoughts and opinions?

  • Does anyone know where I can download Def Leppard videos?

Either paid or for free? They only have Animal on iTunes and a few new ones but I want the good ones... meaning from the 80s. And good quality too, cause otherwise I could just get one off of YouTube. Merci beaucoup :D
