I think there is a perception that it will not be as painful. I also believe that they like the idea that someone might find them and stop them.
I have witnessed those found not dead and believe me the revival is painful.

Because its easier to get a hold of them and less chance of someone finding out and stoping you. The thought of going to sleep and never waking up to face the ugly world we live in then to sit and watch yourself die

i have a feeling you're asking for yourself. a friend of mine took sleeping pills and was clinically dead for 38 seconds. she said she felt the pain but couldn't do anything about it like she was paralyzed. plus, suicide is a really selfish thing to do.
