If a tree falls down in the forest and no one is there did it make a noise? If Yahoo Answers is wiped from internet did it really even exist?

In the Verizon corporate forest, alas, poor Yahoorick, we hardly knew ya boo hoo hoo--what might have been....

We observe that trees make noise when they fall to earth. The noise may differ, but we always hear a thump when they hit the ground.

We see a tree lying on the ground. We see that it is not upright. We see broken branches and roots uprooted. From previous experience seeing trees fall, we can assume with confidence that the tree "thumped" when it hit the ground.

Yahoo existed. Trees fell. Everyone heard. Silent conspiracy. Yahoo falls. Everyone hears. No one cares. It goes on.

Silly question when you really think about it. In the absence of an observer how does one know that the tree did fall in the first place?

Statistically, the odds are so far against any other conclusion that one can be justified in answering .Yes, and yes.  Epic question fail. Try harder.
