It is probably a good idea. I live in an area where there have been several teen deaths due to kids screwing around in a car and just not haing enough experience to handle a car in bad weather, and not knowing the roads well enough.( stop signs, 4 way stops, etc.)

I was 21 before I had a driver's license. I don't think teen-agers should have a license, unless they have had extensive schooling on driving. They are not responsible enough, look at the statistics in any state. Most accidents are involving drivers less than 20 years of age. I think it is a bad idea, for teen-agers to have a license if they are irresponsible.

People need to stop being so hard on teen drivers. Liscenses should at least be granted at 16 to kids with jobs - how are we supposed to get to them? Some kids with fall birthdays or who skip grades wouldn't get liscences till college or their first full time job! That's unbelievable... sounds like one more great way to make life more complicated for self motivated kids whose parents can't drive them everywhere they need to go. Granted it would lower accident rates... but not as much as if we just let noone high risk drive, or even better, no one at all should drive.

I hated waiting until I was 16 1/2. And I was not irresponsible, I still have a perfect driving record.

i think 18 should be the magic number. driving. drinking. smoking. i think there are too many young drivers and if your old enough to die for your country then the others should be allowed.
