I found a hair in my egg muffin from mcdonalds. I called the store and going back later. what is the best plan

Should I let them deal with it with some free food or is it worth mentioning environmental health? Whats the most I can get out of them. This is a genuine case I have the muffin bagged to take back to them.

I know its mcdonalds we are talking about but it is not in their best interest to have in front of the local newspaper that hair was found in food from their store.

Just report it to the store manager.
They are big and have a good reputation.
I am sure the Store Managers are well trained to deal with such situations and will take the necessary action to prevent such occurances. They would also probably give you some freebies for bringing this up to their attention.

Get some free food if you want. I wouldn't take free food from a place that already served me something gross, but that's just me. They want their McMuffin back so you don't have any evidence to take to a lawyer. McDonald's knows about the environmental and health laws. They generally don't care. If you are concerned, call the Health Department to initiate an investigation.

Do you honestly think they did it on purpose or something? Doubtful. I don't know where you work, but aren't you allowed to make small mistakes there? It's responses like yours to silly trivial things that cause someone who obviously has a terrible job already more headache and hassle than they deserve. Just take it back, get another one and shut up please.

Didn't anyone ever teach you that you attract more flies with honey than vinegar? If you don't know what that means, that may explain why someone has probably coughed up phlegm into your plate of food at Denny's or some other sit down eatery when you complained. Watch Waiting. Believe it.

It's a single hair. It happens. Take your replacement muffin and eat it on the spot.

It'll cost you more in gas money to get a new muffin than it would've if you'd just picked it off and eaten the thing,

You never had a hair drop in any food you cooked at home?

If it's covered in hair then that's different (i.e. 2 or 3 hairs) and they need to be reported.

You're not going to get anywhere if you try to sue them. It's possible for hairs to accidentally fall into food, even when the workers have their hair restrained. You'll probably get a replacement muffin and maybe a voucher for a free meal on your next visit. If you're out to get the most you can, dont even waste your breath.
