Ringing in ears - suggestions for relief?

I've got this darn ringing in my ears. Sounds like the ring you hear after firecrackers or if someone dropped something. Problem is, it is ongoing. Most annoying. I do have bad sinuses. Right side operates at about 50%. It's in the family so there's no getting away from it. I use nasal saline spray but it doesn't help. I clean my ears with a Q-tip dipped in peroxide, but nothing helps. Any suggestions gratefully received.

You may have a condition called tinnitus, which doctors theorize exists when regular blood flow from your ear's intricate vein network becomes irregular. The ringing sensation is akin to putting a seashell over your ear and sometimes can briefly affect hearing, speech and balance.

Sinus congestive problems don't help the condition much, either.

And like sinus problems, tinnitus can be inherited; fortunately, both are treatable by your doctor.

Tinnitus is when an individual hears noises when there isn't any external sounds. There are two types of tinnitus, subjective and objective. Subjective is the most common and it means that the patient is the only one who can hear any sounds. Objective tinnitus is more rare but this occurs when the doctor can actually hear sounds from the patient's ear, either by listening closely or use of a stethoscope. In either case, sufferers are often desperate to know how to cure tinnitus.

I heard ringing in my ears too, like louder hearing test. It could be tinnitus. Gets louder over time. Use this to reduce the ringing.
