How do you get a contractor who is doing repairs.....?

actually come in on time and get the job done. House fire back in mid March and still waiting for these idiots finish the job. They dont show up for a month then show up say it will be done by friday and 2 weeks later we are still working! I don want to fire these guys due to the matter that if you start something finish it. Now i hold out on payment and they will finish. should i let the games commence? I am running out of little games to play. Need a good one to get them in the mood to finish the jab asap.

Call the Insurance Adjuster if he had anything to do with you hiring them. I am retired Restoration Contractor- You might try telling the Contractor you will finish it your self if he does not get his *** out there, tell him you are running out of ADL money and he will have to pay your rent if you are not in the home. Don't pay another dime until the job is done, and they will want the Hold back money the Insurance company most likely is holding back, about 20% of the loss for ITO-
Tell him you will call every Insurance Company in the phone book to Black ball him from an Insurance related jobs. And the BBB.
Email me with more details, I will try to help more in building a fire under there butt.

You are totally justified in withholding payment until the job is finished. If he/she is a licensed contractor and they aren't doing a satisfactory job, you can report them to the State Contractor's Licensing Board

Report them to the Better Business Bureau. Complain to your insurance company. Put the word out in the community about how unreliable these guys are. They are probably working you in between major jobs they are subcontracting

Offer them beer. See if that works.
