What is your opinion of how media influence you life or how it affects millions of Americans?
Hi, I am doing a project of the influence of the media on people. I don't know if you guys have any type of oppinion toward it. I mean millions of women are becoming anorexics mostly because of the influence of the medis. I would also like to hear more opinions of how it affects millions of people to choose an acting career and all that. Also I don't know if you could give me some examples of why people start believing in things that are not true as consequence of the media. I mean give me the bad side of the media. Thanks for your help.

I am going to tell you what my History professor told me and it is the honest to God truth, just watch people:
"Americans have the tendency to believe what is repeated to them. At first they may have an idea of what they believe until it is reported and reported and reported to them time and again by the media. The media helps the government brainwash people and the American public continues on believing what they are told."
The media is controlled by the owners and stifled by the government we never know when we are getting the whole truth or just part of it. Remember at election time one station was reporting Gore winning and another Bush! Sometimes leaving out one small word can change the entire meaning of the statement! The government feeds us what it wants us to believe and the media runs with it! Magazines and such want money from the advertisers so they also have an influence on what we know or not! Pharmaceutical companies now bypass the Doctors and advertise directly to us about there new medications to influence us to ask for them! It keeps the whole corporate ball rolling! Media can be evil!
Well, for a start, without the Media the Republicans could not have stolen the 2000 election (Florida was first declared for Bush by an analyst for Fox News Network who is also W's cousin); Having Bush in office when 9/11 happened led to the "Patriot Act", which eroded America's hard-won Constitutional liberties in the name of Media-stoked fear; this administration also pushed the country into an unwinnable "War on Terror" without even as tenuous a battleground as Viet Nam, also Media-driven; Media-driven fear also led to Bush actually being elected in 2004, which due to political croneyism allowed gasoline prices to rise to $3.00 a gallon while Exxon-Mobil posted record quarterly profits (not just for Exxon-Mobil or just for the petroleum industry, but for ANY company in ANY industry since the founding of the stock market), with nobody batting an eye in the largely conservative-controlled Media. While you weren't specifically asking a political question, it cannot be argued that whatever happens at the top of the power-pyramid affects everyone below the top, and so we're all affected by the Media.
Hi, Good luck with your project first of all. I think American media coverage is often excessive. It has no influence on my life. I avoid as much as i can. I don't buy or read newspaers and watch stuff on television that causes me to feel down. I change the channel or mute when bad news apears. It causes too much stress and fatigue. The less i hear about world problems the better relaxed i am. And people were more layed back when there was no t.v. around to watch. The invention of t.v. is all about choice. You can watch what you want or leave it. Have a great day.
the media has gone way to far, they control what news we hear, how we should look, whats hot whats not, they love putting fear in us, for when they control that feeling, they really do control us.Sexy is not a 6 foot lady that weights in at 102 pounds, but they've got thousands believing that and that a pill to get a erection, will make everything a-OK, respect from all, oh happy day, we are as phony as they if we play into there game plan, just lately as global warming being pushed as a issues, but we were told 20 years ago, no one cared or listened, I blame the media for that and at election time, they should NOT be allowed to talk about any of the votes till all the poles have closed, for they REALLY do influence if we go vote, if they report high turn out, then someone sits at home and wrongly thinks , oh I don't need to go
