What does the term "M.O." mean?

I usually hear it in lyrics or when people say, "that's my m.o.".

MO is an abbreviation of a latin phrase: modus operandi

Its most often used in police work, to describe the criminal's patterns and "style" of crime. Figuring out the MO from basic crime scene evidence allows one to get a better feel for the type of person who is committing that crime, such as age, gender, etc.

Its pretty interesting stuff. You can get the wikipedia entry for modus operandi here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Modus_operandi

For an interesting article written by some special agents from the FBI go here:

And as always you can turn into crime dramas on TV and you hear the word "MO" alot. Try Criminal Minds in particular...the point of the show is to figure out MO and find the criminal.
