i forgot to remove cd of win98 from the cdrom and It booted from Cd. My previous OS is XP.....now XP will not open anymore...so I decided to install win98...thinking that I might later upgade it....
Now I want to go back to my previos OS but I don't know how to do since, I don't have the installation CD anymore.

You will need a copy of the Windows install disc - don't try and pick things out manually ...you'll make an even bigger mess of thing. Once you have a Windows disc, reformat and install fresh

The Windows 98 CD-Rom is not bootable, so I couldn't imagine how you booted to the windows98 installation.
I'm affraid if the installation copied over your existing XP installation you are out of luck, and have to obtain a copy of Windows XP on CD-ROM. (Still pretty confused about which is your current OS, or the steps you took to re-install it)... but If "Your original Xp installation" was on a seperate partition that the newly installed 98, you still have two operating systems on that hard drive.

You have to have a installation cd for windows. There is no alternative for it.

to get back to win xp ur need win xp cd to install on to ur pc.you place da win xp cd in drive & let it bootup off that cd then install win xp
