Why is it that in the political section and in the religion section, when people answer each other they are so

overwhelmingly angry and unable to consider the viewpoints of the other side before writing an insulting answer. An example, I asked about global warming and was told that I didn't understand science and was an idiot because I did not think we should agree to Kyoto treaty based on a hypothesis. I have 4 college degrees and 3 are in hard sciences(medicine, biology and chemistry) and 1 in archaeology( overall GPA 3.8). Nevertheless some liberal folks said I was stupid, failed to grasp the theory, and that I was clearly uneducated. The next day I asked about Iraq and the conservatives called me unamerican and a coward. I answered a question about evolution and the christians called me a liar and I answered a question about the mideast and the muslims went nuts and threatened to kill my firstborn male child. Why so intolerant and serious all the time? I deal with people's lives everyday and I use Y/A to relax, not to be insulted. Open to all

I am not so sure that I always take things too seriously, but lately, the attacks are getting worse between respondants

btw litrix I am a doctor and I treat patients, so no I am not in the science field, my brother however is a professor of planetary geophysics in North Carolina and he knows more about it than both of us put together and he agrees that it is a natural cycle, not man-made. Next argument please. Over 16,000 scientists have signed a petition urging the US government not to accept the conclusions of the UN and Paris studies.

It is very easy to be a jerk across a computer keyboard. Would like to see what they say to my face if they saw me on the street.

If you're looking for intelligent answers to your questions, you'll have a hard time finding them here. There will be some but you'll have to wade through all the drivel posted by trolls who think this board is for laughs. These people should restrict their remarks to the entertainment category but politics is just too ripe a field for them to resist planting their vulgar, rude, hostile and insulting comments. I'd debate you but my schooling was limited to struggling through the 10th grade. My real education began in the School of Hard Knocks, which I haven't as yet graduated from.

I think that politics, the war, religion, global warming, etc. are such emotionally-charged issues that people often lash out at any viewpoint that challenges their beliefs. I look at it this way: sarcasm is the crutch of the feeble mind. Those who cannot compose an intelligent response without personal attacks likely don't really have a valid counterpoint. So when you ask a compelling question and the answers are harsh and uncivil, pat yourself on the back for making a point they are unable to debate.

Are you actually working in the science field? Are you actually working on global warming issues in your field? I may have a chemistry degree but that doesn't mean I know squat about climatology or the latest in geophysics. I won't call you stupid or whatever, but I do read a lot of science articles and studies written by reputable scientists in the field of Climatology and climate science who all are saying Global warming exists and the rise in CO2 is anthropologically caused (human induced).
