Why should we stop saying the "Pledge of Allegiance"?

I must have missed something while living overseas all this time...

Why are there some Americans against saying the "Pledge of Allegiance"?

Because it has the word Under God in it and there are a lot of miserable people who hate organized religion

Because the First Amendment right to Freedom of Religion was implemented so that the federal government could not force a religion down the new American's throats ie the separation of church and state.

Remember this was 1791 and though some other religions existed in far off lands, the founding fathers didn't have the foresight to understand that the Constitutional protection they gave themselves then, would someday protect followers of Allah, Wicans, Atheists etc.

Being one sworn to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign or domestic...
I have to say it's time we re-write the Pledge of Allegiance to reflect these times in which we live. Not change the Constitution and allow the federal government to force feed us their version of Christianity which might differ greatly from mine.

One nation under God was valid then, because everyone was on the same page voluntarily. But to demand that everyone be on the same page in this day and age clearly violates the First Amendment protections we hold dear.

Taking out the words under God doesn't mean the end of religion in this country. It means we are simply following the principles that have gotten us this far. Let's get the Pledge of Allegiance updated and back into the minds of our young along with United States History and the Constitution.

Despite what most Americans think, the phrase "under God" was not added until 1954 during the Cold War. President Eisenhower stated spiritual strength would fuel a war against the Communists.

So don't go saying that our Founding Fathers wanted to establish a religion in our pledge. It wasn't written until 1887, for God's sake.

To answer your question, many object to the exploitation of children by leading them in a pledge that even adults have difficulty agreeing upon. They feel that having children recite the Pledge trivializes the serious commitment it requires, and the constant repetition insults the honor and wastes the time of those children who view their first recitation as binding.

Of course we shoud say it. Only an idiot thinks it has anything to do with who is currently in power in Washington. It has nothing to do with any foreign policy or any wars or any political B,S.

It is a pledge directly to America herself. The ideal perfect America that we are striving for every day.

This nation was founded under God. In fact, the Declaration of Independence which perceeded the Constitution mentions the Creator. A belief in God is not religion. You can believe in God without belonging to any religion.

The Socialist agenda doesn't really have a problem with a separation of church and state. It has a problem with the most basic cornerstome of America; that power or moral authority to govern comes from the Creator (not from any government) and goes directly to each one of us and is lent by us to the government in elections.

This is against the basic tenant of socialism. In socialism the government is the final moral authority and the govenment controls everything. The individual has no more rights than the government decides to give him. They can be revoked at any time.

There is no higher authority than the government. So whatever the government decides to do it will do. Even killing thousands of people. There can be no appeal to a higher authority because there is no Creator.

Get it?

The Pledge has drawn criticism and legal challenges on several grounds. Prominent legal challenges have been based on the contention that the Pledge is unconstitutional because it violates one or both of the religion clauses in the First Amendment.

Of course an intelligent person would realize that this is a divide and conquer the will of the people technique from our enemy's that live within.

Good Luck!!
