I killed Vista & Loaded XP on a Vaio and I need the Modem Drivers?
The Vista on this Viao was loaded with tons of crap to market tons of crap. Sony refused to supply XP drivers for this model but they totally have them. When I tried to use a similar model with the exact same hardware devices it would halt and tell me that I am tryiing to install on the wrong model. Finally I went to each manufacturer and got the right XP drivers, except the Conextant HDAUDIO Soft92 Data Fax Modem with Smart CP (on the Realtek audio card). I have found about 6 drivers that all looked promising, but none work. I read a post that said Windows Update would take care of it for me but no go. Tried Conexant and Sony Live chat but no go. Does anyone have a clue how to get this device to work ?
UPDATE: Yes, I've check most of the major "Device Driver Dowload" sites and found so many drivers that did not work that I finally gave up and returned the laptop back to my friend without a working modem. Sony support for this fairly new, and under warranty Laptop was not-existant for any operating system but their serialized version of MS Windows Vista Premium which was a piece of Ad filled pop-up nighmare. The were difficult and flatly refused to supply any drivers for XP at all. They kindly referred me to "the manufacturer of the operating system" for the associated drivers and informed me that they would no longer honor the Sony warranty for this new laptop because we installed an Operating
System that we like and is compatible with out current office. I did manage to find all of the other drivers by dismantling the laptop and reading the chip manufacturers name and chip number for each device. Not recommended for anyone ever. Beware the Sony marketing tactics...
Thanks-
