My mother's cat needs help with her fur?

MY MOTHER'S CAT HAS SOMETHING WRONG WITH IT. HER BACK END ON TOP HER FUR IS MAJORLY MATTED AND IT IS SPREADING. SHE DOES NOT LIKE ANYONE TO TOUCH IT AND IT HAS A SLIGHT DIFFERENT COLOR TO IT. SHE STARTED OUT WITH 2 SMALL AREAS ON EACH SIDE BY THE TAIL NOW IT IS UP TO HALF HER BACK. CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHAT THIS IS?

It sounds like she's just severely matted. Some cats have a harder time grooming the area you're talking about, so mats form easily. Take her to your vet or a groomer to get it taken care of. Mats can be extremely painful....and it sounds as if your mom's cat is in a lot of pain if she doesn't want anyone touching that area.

Sounds like theres something wrong. Cats are very clean animals. If they stop looking after themselves its usually a sign of illness. Would take the cat to the vet for a check up.

How old is the cat?

Her skin may be really oilly causing the matted fur. Has the cat's diet changed? changed I'd go see a vet about the problem.

It sounds like ur moms cat is very sick. This also can be because she didn't groom it enough.
But one reason why the cat is going through that is severe sickness, like cancer. ake it to the vet, don't wait too long, and then its too late.

If she won't let you touch it, she's probably in pain. This sounds very seriously and should not be taken lightly. You need to get her to the vet asap!.
