Is Yahoo going to deduct 2 points every time a question I've answered is removed as having violated guidelines

?!?

Because I just lost 2 points due to a "deleted answer" and I haven't manually deleted an answer today. I clicked on the link to the question and I was informed that Customer Care had to delete the question to which my answer had been attached.

Am I now going to be penalized every time a question is removed as a "violation" if I had an answer attached to the question?

It didn't USED to work this way. We didn't USED to have our points deducted when a question we'd answered was found to be "in violation". Have the rules changed???

All I have to say is, at least I got to participate in this place when it was still fun. A year from now, it will probably be unrecognizable.

The key feature that Yahoo just doesn't get is that people don't come here for KNOWLEDGE, they come to SOCIALIZE. This is the aspect they are constantly trying to suppress, and it's impossible. No one wants to ask and answer questions like a robot. In fact, I doubt many people come here to learn much of anything, they come here to argue and debate. If I have a REAL question and I want a REAL answer, I seek out an EXPERT, (usually a website devoted to the topic) not a bunch of uniformed kooks, which is what most of the users on Y!A are.

Do a search for any arbitrary question and just look at how many "best answers" are picked by one or two votes. This usually means the answerer voted for his or her own answer (which we all do) and that is hardly a community consensus saying what is "best." Often these "best answers" are factually incorrect, absurd, or nothing more than insults directed towards the asker. 99% of the questions and answers here are topics entertained for 10 minutes which then vanish into cyberspace, never to be visited again (until 10 minutes later when the next NOOB comes along and asks the exact same thing.)

Well oddly enough a question I answered about half an hour ago was just deleted and it hasn't flashed any little points deduction message at me.
Maybe it's just delayed or maybe what happened to you and others is just a glitch. It usually takes Yahoo a few days to get rid of the glitches when they update.
Email them and ask what's going on...I expect they are getting rather a lot of emails at the moment ;)

Aauuuughhhh...'it' just decided to prove my point....all the javascript stuff is glitching and it won't let me use half the functions...can't thumbs up or down and spell check has vanished *boo hoo*

Can't even star the question

No, it used to deduct 10 points every time Yahoo removed one of your questions. Now its only 2. So its actually better

oh never mind I read it wrong. We get points deleted for answering someone elses deleted question? That's dumb I haven't read anything about that yet

No, it has long been the policy that whenever an question was deleted, for whatever reason, all persons who answered lost their points.

I've had deletions when a question went to voting, and the majority of the voters said "no best answer."

They must have because I've noticed the new report icon. I guess the flag wasn't obvious enough. However, I think taking away points just because a question you answered was removed because of a violation is asinine.
