I lived on Oahu for 2 years before the other islands were built up, so that island is what I know (I have visited since) Best time is in the winter (not so humid). There are not really any great restaurants (very expensive), on Waikiki you go into the Hawaiian cultural center and have a decent steak at on of the restaurants there. You have to go to all the beaches and snorkel (dive) as much as possible. Rent a car....Show more

Best time to go would be July -Aug. best island would be maui and the best restaurants .. there so many, Cafe O' Lei, Capishe, Mammas Fish House (be prepared to spend some money there), Hula Grill, Sansei (sushi), Seawatch, Stells Blues, and Da Kitchen is fun! and there is so much do to. Def. do the road to hana if you go to maui. its so much fun but be careful! Helicopter rides, snorkling, shopping in Lahina, relacxing on the beach, play golf, parasailing. i have gone in different months of the yr.this yr. it was June. but if you visit Hawaii's visitors website you will find things that are happening all yr. round. also on on the travel channel website put in girl gone Hawaii/ Samantha brown . she the one who travels all over. she will give you ideas....Show more
