Ford Conosiuers!!!! My ford Escape is acting up?

Ford Conosiuers!!!! My ford Escape is acting up?
I have a 2001 ford Escape with a v6 and is a 4x4. The check engine light is on even after I changed an oxygen sensor that Auto Zone diagnosed was the problem and they used their ob2 reader. The code was a P1151. My car gets horrible gas mileage and is gutless. It also idles irratically when I pull up to a stop sign. It also shifts awkward now. It will shift into a higher gear for example when Im driving up a hill instead of a lower gear to get the RPMs up and and it will kind of bog down until I press the accelerator to get it to shift and get my RPMs up again. Could it be my catalytic converter or my Throttle body air regulator.
Why didn't my check engine light go off and why is my car still acting this way. What can I do to fix this without taking it in to the dealer cuase Im kind of broke. Anyones help is greatly appreciated. thanks

There could be multiple trouble codes and Autozone just gave you the first one. Get an OBD-II reader, for a Ford (like mine) they are indispensable. Everything you are describing sounds like it's related to intake and exhaust so something is still messed up with your emissions systems most likely. It could be your cat but only if you have a ton of miles on it already. Get the codes checked again.

Don't ever go to Autozone for them to "diagnose" your check engine light. They dont take the extra steps to try and figure out why that code is comming on.
Most likely your oxygen sensor was fine and something else is making your light some on...does sound like a catalytic. However, sorry, but you will have to pay to have a garage diagnose your problem....but please don't take it to the dealer...unless if you like wasting money.

There are four o2 sensors on the vehicle, did you change the right one? Also p1151 does not exactly mean the 02 is bad, more on that here http://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/ford/p1151.php
next time look to a reputable repair shop to diagnose problems, not ex pizza delivery boys at autozone.

your light didetn go off because you probably dident clear the code. you might o fgotten the wrongs sensor or the wires might be loose. try getting the code cleared and making sure the wires are connected. if that dosent work then go some where else and get a new o2 sensor.

unplug the o2 sensor and see if it still does the same. autozone o2 sensors are not good as OEM anyway, take it back and get 1 from the dealer or NAPA
