College Class ring: Yellow or White gold?

I will be graduating from RPI this Spring and I want to get a class ring, I'm just not sure if I should go traditional with Yellow gold or White gold which would match my watch and my High school class ring. Any suggestions?

Thanks for all your opinions so far, I put this question in this section because I wanted it answered by college people based on tradition and their experience with class rings, versus the fashion forum where it would have just been an aesthetic issue.

So far it seems people prefer White to yellow when it comes to looks but yellow over white gold when it comes to the actual material advantages.

In my opinion, if you're paying for gold you may as well get it yellow.

"White" gold isn't really white gold. It's gold COATED with a cheap silver metal (rhodium), to make the ring look "white." And there's usually nickel or paladium mixed into it too.

So, yes, it's gold in its core, but the actual white surface you are looking at is not gold. And what's the point of getting a gold ring if you can't actually see the gold in it?

That's why I think white gold is for people who think silver is "below" them, but who can't afford platinum! White gold is not a real metal.

If you really want a white color...just get silver, or platinum (if your school sells it).

I suggest white gold, it will go better with everything. Seems like white gold matches RPI's school colors better too.

i prefer white gold, there is just somthing about yellow gold that just doesn't work for me. my wedding bands are white gold aswell as my class ring. i just like it cus to me it looks simpler and not so gaudy.
