I have a few bare spots in my lawn and want to plant some grass seed. Is there a good spray on bird repellent to keep them from eating the seed. I don't want to hurt the little guys, just keep them away long enough for the seed to sprout. Thanks.

It's not worth the trouble. Birds will always steal some seed so no biggie, just use MORE than you need and once the see has germinated the birds will leave it alone. Using straw and keeping it moist helps make quick germination in usually 3 days or so.
Cat Urine and other noxious smelling liquids or just a nice mean Tom Cat makes a nice natural repellent for birds.
The fact that you have a bird house and a bird feeder isn't helping much, is it?
In fact, WRONG. A nice bird feeder stuffed to the max with nice goodies will make the birds go for the feeder and not the grass overmuch.
Squirrels, Chipmunks, and Voles do more damage to gardens than birds which are always bringing me strange plants from other people's gardens some of them rather neat.
I've got an ungodly garden with 2,500 species now of plants on 3.5 acres and birds are more help than hindrance.
Ugh. I can't give you a great answer. I covered mine with cheap chicken wire until it sprouted. If the area is small you can form it around an upside down 5 gallon bucket and just make a dome shape. For a larger area you could form it over a wheel barrel. Another thing you could consider is some type of breathable covering that will let the sunlight through until it sprouts. I know mothballs will work for snakes, but I don't know about birds. I just threw that one out there. Good luck.
