Why does my cat like to eat flowers? Will it harm her?

If I buy roses or other flowers for my wife, I need to make sure they are out a shelf that our cat cannot reach. She'll eat all of petals.

Hehe... very common. Regular roses are fine, but here's a website that lists all the plants that are toxic to cats:

In addition to the above answers of toxic chemicals being sprayed onto the flowers - which is absolutely spot on...

Some flowers are very toxic to cats - in particular Lillies. Lillies can kill cats, so please don't get them if your cat is going to eat them!

unless it has a toxin on it, then no, it won't harm her. cats chew/eat on grass, twigs, leaves, ...

However, cats don’t eat grass as a source of nutrients. For them eating grass has a purely mechanical function. Ingested blades of grass trigger regurgitation of indigestible or hard to digest matter, like the cats’ own hair swallowed during grooming, or fur and bones of prey. Expelling this matter through regurgitation, similar to birds of prey, is safer than allowing it to pass through the digestive tract where it could possibly cause a blockage.

Provide indoor cats with potted grass at all time, as they may otherwise chew on houseplants. Discourage your cats from eating grass right after eating a meal, however, as they may unintentionally regurgitate their dinner.

Try going to petsmart or petco and getting some cat grass and catnip plants. Put them where your cat will find them. My cat insist on eating my moms clover plant. I potted some cat nip and it grew really big so they mostly chew on that now.
