Reloading question for 45 long colt?

What is a good load for a 45 long colt with 225 grain bullet for firing at target of 200 yards? I will be using a Marlin 1894 Cowboy Limited?

Another response in total agreement with Randy. Don't trust someone else's internet advice on handloads.

You're going to have a hard time finding reloading info for the .45LC for use in rifles. I ran into the same problem trying to load the .357 Mag for long distance matches. There just isn't that much published data for the pistol cartridges used in rifles. However, if you check The Hodgdon website for their "Cowboy Manual", it will have some loads you can use.

Randy may be a little overly strident, but he has a good point. Also, you didn't mention what you're doing with it. If you're thinking of hunting loads, I'd discourage use of the lightweight bullet and look for something in the 250 grain range.
I tend to use Blue Dot and Unique for my 45 loads, but have to admit it's as much because I have them on hand for other applications as because of any possible superiority in the 45.

Randy is not over strident at all. He is 100% right. I'd never use a load anyone posted on here. There are plenty of trusted loads at the powder manufacturers websites. I'll link some below.

NEVER use reloading data from the internet or other people unless you get it out of a reloading manual yourself. There are people out there who would love to see a gun owner blow up a firearm. And there are others who thru mistakes, may give you an over pressure load. Just buy yourself a good manual, like speer etc and be safe.
