Why does my 1986 Mercedes Benz 420 SEL run at a very high rpm when i start it?
NO cable, all linkage and its been freed up. Fact is you dont even have to move the throttle for this to happen.

You might have a sticky throttle cable.

It might be normal it starts high, but then gradually it starts to desend to normal operating RPM. (My 2003 Nissan Altima does that)
