Cat Bite On Elbow....Concerned?

I got bit by a cat on Friday. He's not a social cat and we were trying to catch him and I guess he was scared and he reacted in fear and self defense. He got me on my elbow, it's just two small puncture wounds. It didn't bleed a drastic amount, but it's been painful. My main concern is that all around the elbow it is swollen and red. It is also very sensitive and warm to the touch. I've been keeping it clean, and icing it to try and bring the swelling down. I'm also already on antibiotics for something completely different. I'm sure it's probably fine, and it will be better in a few days. I'm just concerned and wondering if anyone has had this same problem.

Advice? Suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Cats mouths are full of bacteria and their bites are serious. Get medical attention immediately, go to your local ER. You need antibiotics ASAP. If it is getting red and painful, the antibiotics you are on are the wrong ones. Also, do you know this cat, does it have its Rabi shots?

Cat bites can be very serious. Their teeth are so sharp that they act like syringes, sending the bacteria from their mouth deep into the blood stream. I've had two friends that were bitten by their own cats, and each ended up in the emergency ward and eventually on intravenous antibiotics. I'm NOT trying to scare you, I'm a university professor who teaches science. Go to the doctor just to be sure, and get a tetanus shot while your there.

My pal used to have a cat ,too. even as she become pregnat the cat acted conventional...yet quickly after the baby got here the cat became a topic. First it began biting cables and then scratching all of her fixtures... in about a week the cat began biting my pal and extremely virtually all of us who got here in contact with the baby. the answer become effortless - the cat become merely jealous...perchance your cat is jealous, too! once you've been spending time with someone new and under no circumstances truly playing consisting of your cat that regularly is the placement. merely spend some exciting time consisting of your cat and probably the biting habit will supply up...:)

Uncover the wound, apply some antibiotic spray to the wound, and dress it very well.
