A marriage can survive anything it depends on the individuals and if they want it to survive. However, this is no reason to put ones marriage to the test a person could lose everything by "swinging every once in a while." What's the sense in marrying then? Was it just to break someones' heart or to play around with the vows or what?

Yes. Many marriages thrive with swinging quite often. It all depends on the people involved in the marriage, the state of the marriage when they start swinging and why they are swinging.

If they are swinging to spice-up or fix a marriage that is on the rocks, it not only won't work, swinging will probably hasten the marriage's demise. And of course since it was the last thing they did before they got divorced it will also be what they blame their divorce on because that's easier than taking responsibility for their own selfish actions through-out their marriage that caused their relationship to be on the rocks to begin with.

However, if they are swinging because they both share the same sexual fantasies, their relationships is fantastic and they are mature and secure enough to pursue swinging, than not only won't swinging hurt their relationship it will in more instances than not improve it even further.

Swinging is like the icing on the cake of marriage. However, if all the ingredients aren't in the cake to make it solid to begin with, all the frosting in the world won't keep it from crumbling.

Or in short, swinging won't fix a bad relationship, but it sure won't hurt a good one.

I have seen and been aquainted with a few couples who are successful swingers and are completely content in their relationship within the lifestyle, but it seems to me that if you are having doubts from the beginning,(as you have already eluded to) you better be damn sure you know what your getting yourself into...not to mention that you had better be 100% secure in who you are! There's nothing worse than getting what you want and then embarassing yourself and partner because you can't handle the emotional baggage that comes with it.
Swinging can be cool, but it's not an excuse for you to go sleeping around you know! If you can honestly sit there and tell me you would be completely confident that you could sit across the bedroom and watch your wife totally enjoying herself with another guy inside of her, then go ahead...then reverse it and see if she could do the same with you and another woman...I'll bet anything you want that one of the two of you,if not both, start to feel the pangs of jealousy start to take root pretty quick.
What will happen if your wife starts working late? Can you honestly say you won't suspect her of cheating? What if you start seeing a woman you met at a swingers club? Will you tell your wife? Or use the old "...we have an open relationship" defense?
Think, dude! Sounds to me like your trying to find an excuse or a reason to opt out of this union before it even starts...Tread Lightly, friend!

It really depends on the marriage. If your marriage is strong and doesn't have other major issues. If you both communicate well and openly and are able to talk about any issues that arise when they arise rather than bottling them up and pouring them all out at once then it's possible. But if there are jealousy issues or communication issues, definately not likely.
