How do I get my cat to eat?

I know the obvious answer is to take my cat to the vet and we have an appointment with the vet tomorrow. In the meantime, here is what has been going on:

For years, our cat ate dry food without any problems. About 6 months ago, she start throwing it up more frequently. The vet found nothing wrong and it pretty much stopped when we switched to wet food.

The vomiting started up again recently and seemed to go away when we switched brands of food. But since yesterday, she isn't really eating. We do not feed her "people" food, but she won't even show an interest in things that she normally begs for.

She's 11 years old and is a tortoise shell/siamese mix. Other than her lack of appetite and the weight loss, she is otherwise her normal happy self.

Well, you did right to make a vet appointment. Hopefully they'll find a good solution for you. *crosses fingers* Have you tried gravy (the stuff from a pet store, not the people kind)? Or offering tuna? (I know it causes UTI's if given too much, but it's still something for a treat that I can't imagine a cat passing up.) I am guessing it's some reason she'll need meds for, but that's worth a try for today.

What foods are you trying?
anything regular store bought is basically garbage
even iams and science diet are no where near the premium status they've fooled everyone into believing they are
they're just full of crap - that's what's in some of the by-products - check the labels, you don't want wheat and corn as your primary ingredients

Look into brands like Fromm, Felidae, California Natural, Innova, EVO, Taste of the Wild, Wellness, Tiki Cat,
and many other real premium, all-natural cat food brands - no by-products, no wheat and corn fillers, and some are grain-free altogether, and some offer wet foods, too (TIki Cat is all wet food)

if you've got just the one kitty, the additional cost for these brands should be barely noticeable - she'll be getting a lot more nutrition, and 11 years old isn't too late to start

Try Fromm Surf & Turf and i'll bet kitty will be scarfing it down like you've never seen before!
