If my car had bad piston rings, would my engine sound different/bad?

Would it run worse than normal?

Hi Jake. Bad piston rings don't usually happen overnight (unless you seize the motor). It is generally down to wear on the cylinder bore/piston rings. You will see blue smoke from the exhaust, it will smell "oily" & performance will be noticeably worse.
If you don't know how to do a compression test, take it to your garage and ask them to do it for you. Then comes the painful part, paying for it. Not a cheap job. Best of luck mate.

Yes it should but it depends on how bad it is, the worse it is the worse it runs (when rings go the compression is lost) you may also notice oil in your air filter caused by blow by and gas as well in the oil. If you have a bad ring try not to drive it really don't if you notice alot of gas in the oil, you can blow it up like BOOM usually not but there is always a chance of doing that.
