I HATE video games?!?!?!?

Question

Ok, so my husband has had his cousin (who is 7 years younger than us) over at our house for two days, constantly playing video games...  He does occasionally take a break to have dinner with us (his cousin included), and to help out with things like giving our daughter a bath, but it is driving me insane.  Does anyone else think that it's completely insensitive for a grown man (he's 29) to have a friend over at our house for 2 days straight, dominating our living room?  Our daughter's birthday is on Saturday, and I've been making all of the arrangements myself.  It's like he's a 19 year old bachelor again.  I have expressed my concerns before, and it's like it falls on deaf ears.  I don't have a problem with his cousin coming over, I just think he could stay for a few hours, and then GO HOME!  Am I over-reacting?  What would you do in my situation?

When my daughter was born I made a rule with my husband that he couldn't play on his computer until she was in bed.  Maybe you could try asking him not to have him over until the baby is in bed.  My sister and her husband have set days of the week when he is allowed to play his games and days that they spend together, so if your looking for some more alone time for the two of you maybe you could try that kind of an at home date night.

I can understand your frustration. Thank GOD my husband is not into video games. We do fight over other things. When things get too much, I always think it can be worse. It's just video games and he is at home, not out cheating, drugs, drinking, and spending money on useless things. I would be bothered by it and mention it to him but don't make a big deal out of it. GL

So he comes over to play video games with your husband because he doesn't have his own gaming system? Either way....you're not over-reacting. I hate video games too!! I'd turn the game/tv whatever it is...off and say..ok, enough idiot box today, little boys..time to go home to mommy!!!

you're totally reasonable to be irked by his cousin staying for 2 days.
but if you're having a problem with it, don't just expect him to leave, tell him that he needs to leave. it is your house and he should respect your space.

Stand up - hand him his coat and say, thanks for coming over and can't wait to see you again - perhaps we can do dinner sometime next week.  If you hubby is so involved he doesn't get it then he will never say anything.
