Break it down this way - you are trading one 1B, one C and one 3B for one 1B, one C and one 3B. Sure you get a little flexibility with the fact that Bonifacio can play 2B and Doumit can play OF, but Pujols is easily - when healthy the best offensive player in all of baseball. Here's the thing. He doesn't just hit for average. He hits for .330-.350. He'll bring Iannetta's average up for you. I also remember that Figgins is only 2 years removed from hitting nearly .400 for the second half. He's a .300 hitter easily when he's on. I think your net return on HR is higher in the Pujols/Iannetta than the Davis/Doumit combo.
The other thing is that Pujols and Figgins are proven veterans in their prime. Bonifacio and Davis are young and still coming into their prime. It's really a matter of risk management - will Davis and Bonifacio outperform Pujols and Figgins - maybe... but the odds are they won't.

Team A gets the better deal and not just because of Pujols. If team A needed a catcher Ianetta isn't a bad choice. Chone Figgins is also very talented. He's a steal at his position because no one else at 3B can rack up that many steals. Team B is getting a talented player in Bonifacio but not even close to Pujols. Doumit is a better C than Ianetta but not by much. Chris Davis was projected to do good and should put up numbers eventually but so far hasn't come through.

If I were offered this trade, I would accept it immediately. Pujols is on his way to another MVP season and is helping my team which is at first place right now. Also, Figgins is great in the Runs department and Ianneta is not a bad backup catcher. Overall, I would take it.

ok, permit's start up with the closers substitute: it fairly is the irrelevant element of the commerce reason the two adult males are magnificent closers and could finally end up with the comparable kinda numbers on the top of the year. Boston could desire to get greater save possibilities than Nathan yet i do no longer think of that it fairly is that significant of a deal for that reason. with reference to the hitters now: surely you're giving a 1B for a 3B and swapping OFs. In baseball the situation eligibility is only approximately the main severe element, if you bought a miles better 1B than Pena (i'm hoping you do) then Pena won't play plenty for you and he only had one great year (consistently a frightening actuality). on the different hand, 3B are harder to discover than 1B and in the journey that your 3B replaced into Lowell then getting Gordon is unquestionably a smart pass. Lee is an improve over Fukudome, it extremely is a no-brainer... whether Fukudome has a great start up, he's not any tournament to Carlos Lee. i could do the commerce if I have been on your footwear. the different guy is possibly a Sox fan and overpaying for Paps ;)
