I've had pain in my left leg/hip right were my femur connects to my hip bone, whats wrong?

I am a softball pitcher. Whenever I take a big step out, or pitch a ball with a long stride I have a shooting pain. The thing is the pain doesn't just go away, it stays for at least an hour, and the longest it has stayed is 3 hours. The next time I do the same thing, the pain just returns again.

I has been continuing for about a week, and I'm getting worried that something is really wrong. Help me please.

I am young too, so arthritis or diseases related shouldn't be an issue.

If you didn't get it from the question, the pain is right where the pelvic bone connects to the femur. The first place your leg bends from your torso. So pretty much the hip bone, to the top leg bone!

Mie-Mie,

This really needs to be checked out by a real Dr. being young doesn't preclude you from having a bone/muscle issue. please seek real pro help and I wish all of the best to you.

It can be a lot of conditions causing your pain. It could be something like a strained ligament, to an isolated cartilage injury or even 'femoroacetabular impingement'. There is really no way to know without seeing a specialist. You should see and Orthopedic Trauma specialist and get full clinical and radiographic assessment including hip x-rays. Check www.aaos.com if you want to find a local specialist.Good luck.
