My little girl, Chloe, has always been very affectionate, giving lots of cuddles and sleeping on my lap and in the bed with us. Recently, though, she's taken to sleeping on my hubby's dirty clothes (which he leaves on the shower room floor when he's had his shower. Grrrrrrrr! LOL). She's still eating and drinking and seems fine physically but she doesn't seem to want to spend time with us, preferring to kip on the shower room floor. My hubby thinks it's because we've got underfloor heating in there and she's still surrounded by the scent from his clothes. I'm worried that there's something underlying this change of behaviour.
Any ideas why she prefers the shower room floor to my lap?

If the weather has turned cooler, lately, I'd have to agree with your husband......warm floor.
See if she still wants to sleep on the floor, after you "retrain" your husband to put his dirty clothes in a hamper........Maybe you should give him one for Christmas????????
As long as she's not peeing / pooping on the clothes, I don't think she's having a "behavior problem".
If your floor is heated, that is most likely the answer. Cats love warmth. If you notice the sun shining through the window a cat will always lie down right where the stream of light shines through.
That's nothing. My kitten sleeps in her litter box rather than her nice warm bed!
It is probably just comfy for her, she might stop if you remove the clothes, or she might like it anyways with the warm floor. It is definitely not a sign that something is wrong though.
It's probably just warm and comfortable. Cats are comfort sluts. Also, cats often become less affectionate as they grow up. If she's a young cat, it's very possible that she's just going through a "rebellious teenager" kind of phase where she wants to be by herself all the time. My cat used to be very cuddly too, but when she hit 1 yr old she got really aloof.
Any cat has some comfort preferences. For my cat it's the softness. Anything that is soft she loves. She also loves sleeping in windows during the summer time. It seems to me that your cat seeks in warmth while mine seeks the soft things. But, you might want to think about removing the clothes. xD
