Removal of cat urine on hunting clothing?

My boyfriend was getting ready to go deer hunting and laid out his (very expensive) hunting jacket and vest. His mistake was laying it on the couch that one of my cats has claimed as "theirs". They rewarded him by peeing on his vest and $300 hunting jacket (which really shocked me, as they have NEVER done this). Now my boyfriend's mad at me (and the cat), and I need to find the best way to remove the odor. I am soaking it in cold water and baking soda right now, and I have a special laundry detergent for hunters that is designed to remove the scents of laundry detergent and such (but I don't know if it's designed to remove cat pee). I don't want to damage the jacket, but I need some good ideas for removing the odor.

You can use shampoo that has been added with vinegar. Vinegar is a natural deodorizer and it will help to remove the urine stain so that the cat cannot smell it.

Oh, I can imagine! My husband hunts too but our cats haven't peed his gear. I would try the scent remover in the hunting department at WalMart and then a good dousing of Tink's Doe-P. It's near the rut so it might even help his hunting. Hope he comes back with a nice one!

Get an enzyme-based remover, such as Nature's Miracle. Soak it thoroughly, let it sit overnight, then wash in your washing machine.
