I am not exactly sure what you are looking for, but how about some of these ideas: jewlery was popular, weaving and tapestry work, and knitting. Look for motifs/designs and re-create them yourself! The book of Kells (from Ireland) is a beautiful example of Iluminated text, if you like to draw!
