So is the AZ immigration law unfair?

Came across this

MEXICO CITY (AP) - Amnesty International called the abuse of migrants in Mexico a major human rights crisis Wednesday, and accused some officials of turning a blind eye or even participating in the kidnapping, rape and murder of migrants.
..Central American migrants are frequently pulled off trains, kidnapped en masse, held at gang hideouts and forced to call relatives in the U.S. to pay off the kidnappers. Such kidnappings affect thousands of migrants each year in Mexico, the report says.

At present, Article 67 of Mexico's Population Law says, "Authorities, whether federal, state or municipal ... are required to demand that foreigners prove their legal presence in the country, before attending to any issues."

And there is about half a dozen articles that could be linked regarding murders by the cartels. I guess I cant blame immigrants for wanting to get the hell out of there, however the usa .. even this AZ law.. treats immigrants better than Mexico does.
Mexico requires their officials to demand you prove your right to be in the country.

What could be done to help this... end Nafta and Cafta? National guard to the border towns to help combat the cartels?
Amnesty is not going to fix the murders and cartels issue.

The 1st link below shows how you will be treated as a US citizen entering Mexico illegally or for that fact the hoops that have to be jumped through if legal entry is wanted.
AZ is only responding to the situation that is costing them in lives and economy. Had the politicians not ignored the problem just to gain illegal votes at the polls, there would be no problem Amnesty is not the answer, you do not reward illegal acts while slapping those who entered legally in the face. Obama thinks that if he grants amnesty that the illegal vote will turn out in favor of the Democrats. An brother do they ever need them now. That is why they are slamming AZ so badly, they may have some of their votes sent back south of the border where they belong.
If our government would cease and desist giving out food stamps, free or subsidized housing and free health care, they would not come here to have their anchor babies. It is not just business that encourages them, but Democrat giveaway programs too.
Problems associated with illegal aliens (annual average since 1950)
31,000 deaths (10K murder)(21K traffic accidents). 10.5 billion annual cost to the economy. 9 to 10 million jobs, check link below.
Diseases found among them: Polio, malaria, yellow fever, cholera and many others.
The second link gives the jobs held by illegals, some are not that bad.

It's my knowledge that Arizona's new legislation does no longer arbitrarily give up persons and ask for evidence of citizenship. This happens provided that the man or woman is detained for a legit intent. I'm getting instead worn out of the dimwits who insist that having any person end up that they're a authorized citizen, even if vote casting in an election or making use of for social offerings, come what may violates their rights.

It's my understanding that Arizona's new law does not arbitrarily stop people and ask for proof of citizenship. This occurs only if the person is detained for a legitimate reason.
I'm getting rather tired of the dimwits who insist that having anyone prove that they are a legal citizen, even when voting in an election or applying for social services, somehow violates their rights.

It's not unfair. It only enforces the immigration laws on the books. The real question is whether or not a state is allowed to pass such a law, since Immigration is a federal concern, and federal law trumps state law.

The way I understand it is that the police can only check your documentation if you are suspected of committing a crime, arrested, or pulled over for violating a traffic law. As long as somebody behaves and doesn't draw negative attention to themselves, nothing happens. And using race to profile and suspect somebody is prohibited.

To me that is fair. However, if the police were to abuse this and harass people who just "look like immigrants" to them...then that is wrong.
