How do i get the smell of gas out of the washing machine!?

Well hindsight being 20/20.... I was replacing a fuel line on a car of mine and got gas on my clothes. I went "OH NO" and put them in the washer. At the time I wasn't thinking. Now my washer smells like gasoline.

How in the world do I get the smell OUT of the washer!? My wife is gonna kill me!

It's a front load samsung HE washer, one of those new energy efficient things.

Your Samsung HE Washer should have a "clean" cycle. Locate that. Put some chlorine bleach but no soap in the dispenser and run the cycle. If the smell is really embedded you may have to do it twice.

Good luck!

You have a couple of choices here.

1. Try washing a load of old towels (something that bleach isn't gonna hurt) with hot water and dishwasher detergent. Yes, dishwasher detergent. That breaks down grease (from dishes) and will also clean the gunk out of the filters in the machine in the process. Longest cycle you can select. No other detergent, bleach, nothing but the dishwasher detergent. Use the amount you would to run a load in the dishwasher give or take a little. Powder is best on all fronts.

2. Wash the clothes again with hot water, your regular detergent and add 1 cup white vinegar. The vinegar smell will go away when the clothes are dried. Leave the washer door open for a bit and the smell will go away in there too. Good idea to run white vinegar through these HE machines on a regular basis anyhow to keep the product residue and water mineral deposits cleaned out of the filters.

3. If you have some or can run to the automotive store; get some Simple Green and wash a load with hot water and 1/3 c. Simple Green. The Simple Green is absolutely wonderful on grease based things. Non-toxic and biodegradable. Smells nice too. Won't bleach.

Washing Machine Smells Like Gasoline

3 things. 1.) 1/2 cup of soap. 2.) 1 cup bleach 3.) one helping of liquid fabric softener.
Start a large or max size load of water only in HOT HOT. run 1/2 cycle and restart at beginning of cycle. Let it complete the cycle and run a second full load of water only , COLD COLD this time with nothing in it. That should fix it up.

you're not suppose to put anything with gasoline in the washer or dryer!
