Amazon.com's Kindle DX says it can play MP3s as "background music" while you read. Could the Kindle be a suitable replacement for an Ipod Touch? I don't want to lug a lot of devices around. I only use the Ipod on planes when I travel.

Um, well do you like black and white? Are you a Heavy reader? I know Kindle is a little cheaper than iPad. iPad can do the same thing as kindle except it even has more features than Kindle. If i was you, i would go for iPad 16gb (wifi only) for only 100 dollars extra. This would def replace ipod touch
