Can you help me translate this phrase from German into English?
BRANDT u. RATZEBURG wollten beim Mufflon die Varietaten "orientalis" u.a. in Persien und namentlich auf Zypern von der Varietat "occidentalis" auf Korsika uns Sardinien "vorlaufig" unterschieden haben.

Brandt and Ratzeburg wanted to establish a preliminary distinction between the "oriental" and the "occidental" varieties of the moufflon, the first being found e.g. in Persia and mainly on Cyprus, the latter on Corsica and Sardinia.
(By the way, you seem to have mis-typed a few words, e.g. Korsika UND Sardinien; also all the Umlauts are missing... with them, you might have tried Google Translator)
