The fine on Harrison of the Steelers?

This is an absolute outrage. In the hit on Massaquoi it was clearly obvious that Harrison led with his forearms and yet that's the hit he gets fined for? When the players pick up their game checks, they know what they're getting in to. Goodell is going to ruin this sport...Polamalu was right, the NFL is turning into a league of pansies...The NFL makes money off these so-called "dirty" hits. They market them to help keep fans flocking to their game. The fines and threats of suspension are atrocious. Without the contact, we wouldn't have the most popular sport in this country. You can't take money away from guys that have learned to play hard like this since their days in Pee-Wee football. It's criminal....Show more

Yes. Today's players are bigger and faster than ever. Helmet contact and any blow to the head of any player should be dealt with harshly. You can tackle without being vicious and hitting anyone above the shoulders shows me an intent to do bodily harm. When I was playing football hitting above the waist was a no-no, not because of any injury consideration but simply because it was not good form. Most of the players in the NFL don't tackle anyway, they hit and it seems that they are more concerned about being on an ESPN highlight reel than they are about the well-being of their fellow co-workers (and yes, the opposing players are in the same business and belong to the same organization and union: it's a brotherhood)....Show more

Yeah. It's a fast moving sport, you're going to have ugly hits, and some helmet to helmet hits. Harrison's hits were bad hits, but not dirty hits. Dirty hits are intentional. Harrison wasn't even called on his hits by the refs.

If the NFL starts fining guys for unintentional bad hits, it's going to be horrible for the sport. Guys aren't going to give 100% on the field for fear of losing $$$....Show more

If you have the ball you're not defenseless, but that doesn't mean that you can hit guys in the head. If he had made a clean tackle and Massaqoi or Cribbs had happened to get hurt, oh well, that's football. But he lead with his helmet and made contact with their helmets, thereby drawing a fine. As for the hefty price tag--these were his second and third infractions this season already. Frankly, that should have been enough to draw a suspension in my opinion....Show more

I thought Harrison is the one that needed to be suspended. Those hits were just plain dirty. I don't mind dirty hits but not to the head. I'm glad the NFL is finally taking action. Some of these hits have turned to be very very dangerous....Show more
