Can the "Choose as Best Answer" button be confused with "Vote as Best Answer"?

I've read about several users (mostly newcomers to YA) who confused the blue (with round corners) "Choose as Best Answer" button that appears in their own questions with the blue (with straight corners) "Vote as Best Answer" button visible in all Undecided questions.
Consequently, they thought that they had voted when in fact they'd chosen the BA, or viceversa.

Has this ever happened to you?
Can you suggest any change that would prevent this confusion?

Thanks in advance!

Yes, this has happened to me too - many's the time I've gone to check my latest open question, seen the blue "Choose" buttons and panicked, thinking I'd missed the deadline and it had gone into voting! I wonder if that's part of the reason why so many questions do go into voting - the user sees the blue "Choose" buttons and assumes they've missed the boat already. The similarity is confusing. I agree with a recent suggestion floated on the suggestion board by an anonymous user - use different colours to distinguish the "Choose" and "Vote" buttons! Maybe different shapes too - a nice round, sunny orange radio button for voting!

I almost got panicked when I found "Choose as Best Answer" button after posting a Question a few days back. I was feeling "guilty" for not been able to "Vote as Best Answer" since I feel a bit disappointed when Askers won't bother to chose a "Best Answer". The it occurred to me that this may be a new option that I am unaware of since I seldom Ask a Question and the last time (or second last time) was a few years ago.

It is good that you have brought this to the notice of new users as well as old-timers who would not Ask a Question and were not updated about the presence of "Choose as Best Answer" button.

PS. I am still not sure what prompted Y!AT to have this "Choose as Best Answer" button that can cause confusion and mistakenly led the Asker to believe that he has been cheated of required time before a question is going to "Best Answer" by the users option. Hope Y!AT Leader Amanda is reading this Answer and throw some lights about the rationale of this button which may be having negative affect than that was intended to have.

No, I never notice this, but choosing best answer comes up when you have reach 1 hour and you choose your best answer or you can wait a bit longer until you get more answers, now when you are voting (that mean clicking on the voting button) that is for anyone to pick their favorite answer to the question..and then the person with the highest percent get the BA points. Hope I help you here..=)

Vote as Best Answer only shows if you deliberately go into the voting area to vote on Undecided questions.

For my own question I would expect to see Choose as Best Answer, then I would look to see how much more time was left to wait for more answers.

you would be able to desire to attend 4 hours then you definately can pick desirable answer. pass on your question and you will see the blue bar decrease than the solutions click on the only which you think of is the desirable answer. you may fee the respond by ability of giving a million-5 stars you additionally can pass away a remark in case you chosen your desirable answer to your question then you definately get 3 factors lower back. wish this helps!!!
