How do I get a U.S Passport?

My girlfriend and I are planning on taking a vacation to Australia next fall and we figured we should get our passports as early as possible. I could probably figure out how to get the, but I figured it would be easier to just ask on here. If someone could please give me details on every step involved in acquiring a US passport I would appreciate it. Thank you.

This is what you normally need:

1. you must have a certified copy of your Birth Certificate
2. and a current valid ID
3. 2 Passport photos
4. check or money order ($110) for the Dept of State (Passports), and cash, ATM, etc for the application fee ($25) paid to the Acceptance Office.

You must appear in person at a Passport Acceptance Office, often your local Post Office with a completed Application form - available at the PO, or on-line. Follow the on-line directions EXACTLY.

i don't understand what the line fee of a British Passport is, yet i understand whilst my passport replaced into stolen, i replaced into advised US passports have been going for 1000's of dollars. That replaced into returned in 1997. i don't understand what they're nicely worth now. they could be nicely worth not something now that there are extra safeguards linked to them. Regardless, i think of any ecu passport or Canadian passport is nicely worth as much as a US passport. Australian and New Zealand passports much less so considering the fact which you are able to't fairly enter a third u . s . a . with them, as you are able to in Europe or North united statesa. which shares a land border with yet another/different u . s . a ./s.
