Believers, how do you feel about the burning of a book which is the basis of another religion?
We now know that a person has burned the book which is the basis of another religion. As a believer, how do you feel about this? Happy, embarrassed, guilty, ashamed. Do tell, you can be sure that the eyes of the world are upon you.

i think its pretty stupid and ignorant. im a christian. christians are supposed to show love and peace to everyone and try to love everyone as god loves you. its also pretty hypocritical....
Before the Internet, free public libraries, and cheap mass transit, book burning meant that you could actually keep someone from learning about something. It was effective mind control.
Now, that is much less true. It does however represent an in-your-face insult to someone else's beliefs.
I was disturbed when I traveled through one of the Southern States in the US recently and wanted to go to a book store. The closet one was 75 miles away! There were no public libraries anywhere nearby. This was the Bible belt - plenty of Christian bookstores, but no way to get other information (except the internet, thank goodness.) I am a Christian but I also like to use my own mind and think for myself. Can't do that without information from a variety of sources.
I am opposed to censorship of any kind for adults. So I am completely against book burning.
The United States was founded by people who wanted the freedom to believe whatever they chose to. Not a religion that is forced upon them. It's the freedom OF religion Not freedom From religion. Which means that just because a group of people don't like a particular religious belief system they don't have the right to try to squelch it's existence. Or to discriminate against it's practices. The freedom of speech means we can openly share our beliefs with anyone willing to listen without being afraid of being hauled off to jail or worse. We Don't have the right to try to destroy another groups religious books.
It's pointless and I think people should have more to think and worry about than burning a book of a religion. There are more serious things to worry about and try to change that are going on in the world. People should respect, help and love one another.
It is certainly offensive to the book's adherents. This offensiveness only causes further polarization of beliefs and does nothing to win others to your point of view. I once had a person ask what I would do if he burned a Bible. I told him I would put out the flames. Beyond that, it would be between him and the author.
